1973 Honda XR

Used 1973 HONDA XR-73 KO Barn find. It Does Have the usual bumps and bruises for a 42 year old XR, after sitting for some time and some tinkering, it started, shifts, brakes, but wont idle. I'll try to clean out the carb and adjust the timing. This find was sitting for a long long time, so I started off 1st by looking in the air filter box to make sure there were no critters making house there. I changed the oil and the old oil was not that bad. I replaced the old dried out fuel petcock with a brand new NOS HONDA part, replaced the fuel line and replaced the carb with a new one because the old one was all gummed up. Included if you want it. After 1 bump start, it fired right up and ran good, no leaks, no smoke, motor sounds good. A couple of small dents it the tank. Original wheels and frame have plenty of patina and some rust.The aftermarket kill switch works too. The exhaust has some repairs but is fully functional. Tires are worn but hold air fine. The Good: New NOS Honda Fuel Petcock Valve. New Aftermarket Carburetor. New front tire tube. 1973 serial numbers The Bad: It's shows its age and rust. Not original paint. Not original seat cover or handlebars Missing the 3 original metal Number Plates.Replaced with plastic ones. The kick starter must be moved slowly to catch the gear when kick starting, sticky ratchet. It need a new little friend to work on it and ride with, who's next?
