Amazing gas mileage! 41 mpg! 1.3L Engine, Automatic transmission Hot Heat and Cold A/C Front wheel drive – good in snow! Clear Title! Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. This car is not Maryland State Inspected, therefore, it cannot be sold to a Maryland resident. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid. These are a popular choice for someone that wants a used hybrid car. They are still simple enough that a person with reasonable mechanical skills can work on / maintain them, and there is a wealth of information and support online for maintaining the hybrid system. These older Honda hybrids are much more simple in design than the Prius, because they basically took the regular civic, gave it a smaller engine, then sandwiched an electric motor between the engine and transmission. Gas mileage is not as good as it is in a more complicated hybrid like the Prius, but this car was still rated 39mpg City / 42mpg Hwy / 41mpg combined. Long-held fears about aging hybrids ($6k replacement batteries, etc.) have mostly been debunked. You can find replacement batteries with warranties for $1,200 – $2,200. With the proper research, equipment and precautions, you can rebuild your old battery yourself, or grid charge monthly to rebalance your existing battery. My last Civic hybrid was also a 2004 model and it was still running strong with the original battery with 301k miles on the odometer, so these cars will definitely hold up over time. This Civic hybrid runs great! The engine always starts right up, and it has plenty of power. There is no smoke or blow-by, and no overheating. The hybrid system works normally without any trouble. This car has the “auto stop” function that turns the engine off at stoplights, then restarts automatically to save fuel. The transmission shifts through all of its gears normally without any slipping. The brakes are strong, and the suspension is solid. This car is good for around-town use, but it is great on the highway. The ride quality is amazing for a small eco car, very smooth and quiet, and on top of that the fuel economy is amazing! There is a very slight “jutter” when taking off from a stop sign or stoplight. After doing some internet research, it appears that this is a common problem with these cars involving the start clutch in the transmission. Most people just periodically change the fluid, using the Honda CVT fluid specified. This often fixes the problem or prevents it from worsening. In the event that the start clutch needs to be repaired, I have seen estimates posted for $1,000 – 1,200 from the Honda dealer, but you should check with your local dealer and independent shops for prices in your area. This car was last emissions tested in February 2014 and it passed. The blue interior of the car is in above-average condition for the age. There are no cracks on the dash or door panels. The seats are comfy and supportive, and free of tears. The headliner is clean and does not sag. There are some minor stains on the seats, carpets and factory floor mats that would probably come out with a proper detailing. The heater works great, and the A/C blows cold. The cruise control works. The factory radio works, and there is a 12V outlet on the dash. This car has power windows, power locks, power mirrors and twin airbags. All of the gauges on the dash work. The dash does have the “airbag” light on. This is a common problem in these cars which is typically the result of dust and dirt accumulating on the sensor inside the seatbelt buckle. There are instructions online on how to clean the buckle and reset the light, or you can have it checked at the dealer. The “check engine” light is also on. I had the code checked at Pep Boys, and it came out as P0404 - EGR Valve. The EGR valve may have gone bad, or it may be clogged with carbon which could be cleaned out. Replacement valves are available on RockAuto for about $120. The cup holder lid stays open as well. The blue/silver exterior of this car is in average condition for the age. There is no rust, and overall the paint looks OK, but there are a few little scrapes and dings here and there. There is a dent in the corner of the plastic front bumper (pictured) that could probably be “popped” back out easily with a rubber mallet if you took the time to remove the bumper. The wipers and exterior lights all work. The lightweight factory alloys are present, and all of the tires have good tread. This is a great little car that would be good for someone that is interested in driving / toying with these simple hybrids, or someone that just wants a good commuter that gets great MPGs. It is lovely to drive, and the gas mileage is phenomenal compared to the average car. It is Honda quality, and there is enough information and aftermarket support for these cars now to make DIY maintenance fairly straight forward, plus the fact that it is basically a regular Civic with a hybrid system bolted on. There is a lot of information online about how to maintain, and even rebuild the hybrid battery yourself, and many Honda hybrid online communities that provide a wealth of knowledge and support. This is not a perfect car, it has some flaws and requires some maintenance. I have described all of the flaws that I have found. The car drives wonderfully, and I do not think there would be any problems driving it long-distance. I think that this is a great car, but that is my subjective opinion, so please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this car, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule. I am selling this car on behalf of my father because he does not use the internet. This car is owned by his small, used car dealership. Since this car is owned by a dealership, the buyer has the option of getting a 2-month temp tag, so that he or see can legally drive the car home. My father is away on vacation at the moment, but will be back after November 15th, so the car does not need to be picked up and paid for until after that date, but it does need to be picked up before Thanksgiving. I am open to offers made through Ebay, in accordance with Ebay rules and regulations, and reserve the right to end the auction in the event that an offer is accepted, however, no offers made on the final day of the auction will be accepted, and the car will not be sold out from under the winning bidder. This car has not been through MD State Inspection so it cannot be sold to a Maryland resident. PLEASE READ: This car has not been through MD State Inspection, so it cannot be sold to a Maryland resident. If you have a Maryland Driver’s License, you cannot buy this car. Payment is to be made in cash. Paypal, Checks and Bank Transfers are not cash, cash is physical, paper money. Buyer must have a valid drivers license to purchase. A $200 deposit should be paid immediately, and must be paid no later than 24 hours after the auction's end. This can be paid through Paypal. The remainder is to be paid in cash at the time of pick-up. The car can be picked up after November 15th, and should be picked up before Thanksgiving. Bidders with zero or negative feedback must contact me prior to bidding – I will delete your bids otherwise. Do not send me angry emails when you bid without contacting me, and then find that I have deleted your bids and blocked you from further bidding on the auction. This car is sold AS IS, with NO WARRANTY. Please examine the supersized photos, and contact me if you have any questions. Serious bidders are welcome to come see the car, just give me notice ahead of time so I can adjust my schedule. Since this car is being sold by a dealership, if on arrival for pick-up the buyer has a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, a 2-month temp. tag can be supplied at an additional cost of $35. Payment is to be made in CASH at pick-up. Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction.
