As I was reviewing the cars available on my auction list for my Wednesday morning specialty auction, I spotted this 2003 Mercedes Benz C320 4Matic Wagon. First of all, I have this ridiculous fondness for wagons; i grew up traveling in the back of them as a kid. So, they always catch my attention. This one especially though because it stated it only had 14,964 miles. OK, looks like a typo so check Carfax and Autocheck. No it was true! This car is a ONE OWNER 2003 Mercedes Benz C320 4Matic Wagon with only 15k miles on it. I couldn't wait to get to the auction that next morning. I wanted this car for every reason I could think of and I hadn't even seen it yet other than a few pictures. Wednesday morning rolled around and the first car I rushed to see was this one. Walking up on it it appeared like new. I opened the door to a rush of cold air conditioning, (the guy before me had left it running). The first think I noticed was tan masking tape covering the door sill plates and halfway up the entry side of the door post. Obviously the owner didn't want heal scratches and scuff on the entry plastic. Next, I just laughed, there were rubber floor mats atop of folded towels atop of plastic covered brand new original floor mats. Not just the driver's side but all four locations of front and rear mats. It was also pretty obvious that towel covers had covered the front and rear seats too; they looked like brand new. I remember 40 years ago, grandpa used to do that with his Buick, but I really didn't think people still covered their cars like that. Well these folks must have and they must have gone the grocery store only two miles away everyday too. 15000 miles over 13 years is only about 3 miles per day. On the way home from the auction, it was hard not picturing this Mercedes in my life for real. The air conditioning was icy cold and the overall condition was just outstanding. Then when I parked it at the dealership, the line of my children wanting to have it be their gift started to form. Thank goodness they already had they own cars. But needless to say, I still brought it home and had my wife drive it for a month, then my oldest son who also works for me go into a small accident in his car and asked if he could borrow this one (found out later it was a ploy to see if he could convince his girlfriend to trade up). Well, like I have always said, I cannot keep them all nor do I entertain the idea or I'd be broke real quick. So here she is finally going online for some lucky new owner. Yes, my family put almost two thousand miles more on it than what I bought it with. We were just making sure it was great for you. And great she is. The C320 4Matic is all that... Although the C Class cars of 2003 were the entry model Mercedes Benz of their day, this C320 4Matic Wagon was the top of it's class and not cheap either. Almost bursting the $42,000 sticker price, this little gem was more expensive than any of it's competitors of the day. BMW, Audi, Volvo, Subaru, Honda and Toyota were just not in this bracket and there obvious reasons for that. Reading the Motor Trend, Automobile and other automotive magazines boasted high regards for the C320. This particular generation of C Class had finally come out of the fog to be Mercedes Benz quality, something regularly missed in it predecessors. The car was the best of the best on Mercedes Benz took pride in their new C320...as did their new owners...obviously overkill in this case. I'm an enthusiast before I'm a Dealer Buy a pretty, shiny Mercedes from a private individual and you are taking a huge risk. We have fully serviced this car and detailed it almost to like new again. The previous owner of this C320 took exceptional care of their car. We tested it for about 1700 miles. They also don't know how to perform an inspection and don't know what to look for in a used Mercedes. We are Mercedes-Benz experts and it is not arrogance if it's true. This is a top-shelf Mercedes because our mechanic says it is and because we say it is . . . Is it perfect? No! And I always giggle when asked that question on a used car...sometimes even when asked that on new cars. No she is not flawless. The rear bumper has some minor, really minor scuffs and small scratches. On my close up pictures, you'll see them. No way would I suggest repainting the rear bumper especially not before I sell it. I want you to see an honest presentation of this car. If you want it repainted, no worries, but I think you'll agree, it doesn't need it. The flaws on that car are superficial at worst. Just look at all the pictures as I hide nothing and I know you are going to be super impressed. No Damage History I pull Carfax on every car I own newer than 1981...because I can. I do it before I buy them so I know that they haven't been in a serious wreck or have other issues that would change my buying decision. But Carfax is not all knowing and often cannot tell you the history as well as a professional appraiser like me; one that has been doing so for nearly thirty years now. This car sports all of it's original paint, in fantastic condition with only minor blemishes. The interior is the same but seriously near flawless. She is probably the nicest, lowest mile, C320 4Matic Wagon in the nation. Prove me wrong. I can take it. Is she Perfect for You? I have to believe this 2003 Mercedes-Benz C320 4Matic Wagon is a perfect fit for a lot of people. It's amazing low mileage and the time my family spent in this car tells me that I'm quite frankly dumb to be selling it. And, don't believe the myth of a Mercedes costing a fortune to repair. It simply is not true and not only that, a Mercedes breaks far less often than most other vehicles.
