0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Mercedes-Benz introduced the W113 230SL to the world at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show as a replacement for both its 300SL and 190SL models, and produced the iconic roadster from 1963 to 1967. Designed under the hands of Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi, the W113 with its squared-off and svelte features earned the moniker of “Pagoda Top” from its unique and slightly concave hardtop. Equipped with a 2.3L inline-six cylinder engine good for 150hp alongside a shortened wheelbase, double-wishbone front suspension and a swing rear-axle with transverse compensator spring, the 230SL exhibited exceptional handling for its time. This 1966 230SL model shows 22,853 kilometers on the odometer, wears a Light Ivory exterior with a cream leather and dark blue carpeted interior, and retains some wear on the outside and inside. The cluster reads in kilometers, which further indicates this as an SL that was imported into the United States. The 2.3L engine turns over on the first try, and the gearbox and drivetrain operate smoothly without any abnormal noises. Braking is not an issue as all of the components are in proper working order. The underside is in great condition, and the body is straight. This car also has Bosch Euro headlights and driving lights mounted on the front bumper. On the interior, the original Becker Europa head unit remains in the dash and is wired to Pioneer speakers located in the well behind the seats.
