Vehicle Detail
1968 Ford Mustang Up for bid is this great little 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe. She is equipped with the J code 302 4bbl carburetor, C4 automatic transmission, power steering, and what seems to be a GT package. It has the wheels, c stripe, fog lights etc. however no disc brakes which I am told signifies it as a true GT. The 302 4bbl is a very powerful engine in this very light car. It is the highest displacement available in a small block car for this year. The car runs and drives now but would make a great Winter project that could easily be mint and ready for Spring and Summer cruising in 2016. Looking the car over I see the biggest thing will be that the car needs two rear frame rails. The driver's side is worse than the passenger side but if I were doing this car I would do both. They are easily obtained and not too expensive. If you can weld then you are that much further ahead of the game. I would go through the braking system as the car has sat for some time before coming into our possession. The engine runs a bit rough and you need to feather the accelerator pedal to keep it from stalling. I think the carburetor could use a cleaning or a rebuild and a tune up will go a long way toward making her run strong and right. Also a nice engine compartment detail will be in order. The interior will also need some attention. The dash pad and cluster bezel will need to be done as will the seats. The carpet I could go either way on but if you are going that far it may be worth the investment to replace it. The hood is a directional style hood that someone back in the day screwed a non functional hood scoop on. No big hole cut in it just the screw holes for the scoop. If you wanted to take off the scoop you could fix the holes easy enough. There are a few other minor blemishes here and there on the body. The good is that even with all that the car runs and drives and is very powerful as it sits now. Also the floors and other undercarriage is clean and dry with no rust other than the fore mentioned rear rails. The paint on this car is pretty good for the age of it and will shine up really nice if you want to do a drive while restoring project as well. The car is being sold as is where is with no warranty written or expressed. I have described the car honestly to the best of my knowledge. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them ASAP. I will not be responsible for nor will I arrange shipping for the car. I will however work with a shipper you provide as far as scheduling to pick the car up once payment terms have been satisfied. A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is due within 24 hours of the auction's end. The remaining balance is due BEFORE the vehicle will be released. This can be by cash or by verifiable bank check. Good luck and happy bidding.
