Vehicle Detail
1962 Bonneville, last year for the pre unit engine, finished in US market colours, Flame and Silver, matching numbers. Restored over the last two years, and only 12 miles on the speedo. All new rubber, and chrome, Wheel rims, exhaust, and some small items are new aftermarket, and items such as tank badges, levers, headlamp etc. were re-chromed. I believe the bike to be a pretty accurate example, and I spent a lot of time researching to ensure this, but of course, I may be wrong on some things. The engine was totally rebuilt with rebore and new pistons, new valves, springs etc. in the head, The original head was badly cracked in the usual places, but I had one of the later 8 stud heads Triumph made in the sixties, with no cracks at all, which is now on the bike. New camshaft bushings, main bearings, big end shells, (crank was checked by expert, and advised grinding not needed) Sludge trap removed, cleaned out and new tube installed. Forks have all new bushings. It's a really good looking bike, I was a little dubious about going with Flame and Silver, having only ever seen the sky blue examples, but now I'm a believer. It is a very easy starter, usually first kick, and runs well, although, it must be pointed out, it has not had a serious road test, other than round the block a few times, which is where the 12 miles you see on the speedo came from. I'll be happy to answer any questions, and I'm happy to show it to anyone close enough to come see the bike. The bike has a Canadian title, and I will sell world wide. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs, but I will do anything I can to help at this end. If shipping is involved, please look into the cost before bidding, it can get a bit pricey. A $500 deposit is required through Paypal within 3 days of sale, and payment is by bank transfer only, or cash on pickup. On Sep-28-15 at 09:23:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention in the description, that the gearbox, (number 129151) is also original to the bike according to records, although a different numbering system was used, and they never matched the engine/frame numbers. In the questions section, someone kindly provided the date of manufacture of this Bonneville, October 1961. Since Triumph started production of each model year in September, and this bike has an early number, this would be correct, and it is of course a 1962 model. Numbers for 1962 ran from D15789 to D20308.
