Vehicle Detail
Nice solid old TR to drive now and restore later or great candidate for a full restoration. Runs and drives good with approx 91k miles. Car has never been apart and was repainted in the 80's. I drive it regularly and aside from the rattles and oil drips expected from an unrestored British sports car it goes very well. Here are some details: The Good: Engine runs good and does not burn oil. 50+ oil pressure cruising and 25 idling when hot. Crankshaft endplay is not excessive. Newer cast iron water pump and spin-on oil filter conversion. Electronic ignition conversion. The overdrive transmission is in excellent condition, shifts smoothly and the overdrive operates as expected every time. Newer brake and clutch system including master and slave cyls, shoes, pads, drums, rotors, hoses, etc. Newer stainless exhaust system. No electrical issues, everything works and is original down to the Lucas headlights. Dash is has never been apart. The side covers for the console missing in the pics are present in good shape. Interior shows some wear, but the mats, carpets, dash and panels are all original. Seats were rebuilt some time ago and look nice. New Securon safety belts. Original tan boot. Roll bar with LED brake light. Floors and frame are solid, including no rust or swelling around the trailing arm area. Body is straight and solid outside of some rust developing in the front and back of the rocker panels. Gaps are good by TR standards. Trunk is nice with worn original carpet. The Not-So-Good: As I stated, there is some rust developing in the rockers. The inner rockers and floors are solid. It is not terrible now, but will need some attention soon. Paint looks nice and get compliments, but this summer the paint over the wheel on the left front fender started crazing and cracking. There is no evidence of filler there, and not sure why it started now after all of these years. The PO covered rust on the center rear bumper with aluminum tape. A nice used center bumper is included. The rear trailing arm bushings are badly in need of replacing. I will include a new Nylatron bushing kit from Good Parts. Please feel free to ask any questions or for additional photos. I am happy to work with the shipper of your choice or feel free to drive her home (I have clear title in my name). I will require a $500 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of the auction's end and the balance due on pickup or within 14 days. I can store the car indoors for up to 60 days if paid in full.
