Vehicle Detail
Here we have an extremely clean 1973 Porsche 914 Silver paint on black trim car with all the factory options. At one point the car had the motor replaced with a 1.7 litre 914 engine. The car has just had a major service including new battery, all fluids, spark plugs, wire set, distributor cap, rotor, etc, and valve adjustment with new gaskets. The list of options includes factory Fuchs wheels(many are replica's)including spare, chrome bumpers front & rear, mirrors on both doors, leather steering wheel and shifter boot, air conditioning system, center seat pad, center console with gauges(voltage, oil temp, & clock), Driving lights in bumper with chrome grilles. Exhaust has SSI factory type stainless steel heater exchangers and an original muffler with new copper gaskets and all new hardware for a neat, clean original look underneath. This should be the last exhaust it ever needs and sounds great. This car is so original that even the heater duct work, shields and hoses are intact, these parts are usually missing. Transmission serviced with Redline synthetic and shifts silky smooth. All shifter bushings are brand new. Brakes are in good condition, work well and parking brake actually works properly. Car has new Bilstein suspension and complete alignment and wheel balance. Fuel injection system works as it should, starts easy hot, warm, or cold. Idles smoothly and has great throttle response. Fuel pump is original Bosch "rooster" 3 fitting pump as came on car in 1973, not a later style rotary pump with cobbled together return lines for 2 fittings made to "kind of" work. Breather and emissions hoses are new and factory cloth braided parts. Targa roof seals and window seals are less than 2 years old. A/C system is intact in vehicle but does not cool at all, belt is off compressor so I am assuming it, at the very least has failed. The fans blow through the A/C vents under the dash when turned on so the electric part of the system seems functional. All Freon hoses & plumbing are in place as they were originally installed. Condenser in the front is in perfect shape & has not been crushed on parking bumps like you most often see. I have made no attempt to make it work. Tires look brand new but are over 5 years old. The "Hell hole" under battery has minor rust but not bad, the floor pan and rocker under it have not been affected. Underbody floor pan seems to have had a light coating of some type of sealer that has kept it in near perfect condition. Car has had a complete, quality repaint(original color) that looks to be 8-10 years old. There is a slight seperation of black vinyl on the lower targa wing pillars where it meets the aluminum trim. Comes with owner's manual & German tire gauge. All in all a exceptionally clean, collectable air cooled Porsche. This is not the trashed, rusty, cut, modified, etc cars you see for $7-10K. As with any 43 year old vehicle, it is not perfect but you'd be hard put to find one better for under 15k. ...... Offered by Collector Cars and Bikes in Houston,Texas.
