Vehicle Detail
You're looking at one VERY clean and unmolested Third Generation Camaro. If you're in search of a either a show-quality or investment-grade IROC Z-28, then you know how difficult it's getting to find these cars in like-new condition. Some details about this car are as follows: BACKGROUND/HISTORY: a woman purchased this car brand-new in July 1989 from a Chevy dealer in Plymouth, New Hampshire as a 42nd birthday present to herself. She drove the car only seasonally for a few years before being diagnosed with terminal cancer. The woman's husband last registered the car in 1998; it then sat for 12 years in a heated garage, started monthly and maintained by him, until he sold it to a central-Vermont collector in 2011. The collector put only 200 miles on the car during the four years he owned it. OVERALL CONDITION: a 9.9 out of 10. Both the original paint finish and interior upholstery and trim are flawless. Completely OEM stock except for fluids, battery, tires, and hood/hatch support struts, never disassembled or modified. Mechanically and electrically sound, every single component functions as new. Suspension and steering are tight and tracking is straight and like new. The car has never seen winter, and never been in any kind of accident. EXTERIOR: 10 out of 10. Flawless original black paint, with a mirror-like sheen. Absolutely no dents, dings, or scratches, anywhere. No rock chips or road rash on the front spoiler (the original owner only drove it with a bra); none of the typical cracking and/or clear-coat peeling on either the front spoiler or rear bumper cover. Wheels have zero pitting, scratches, or nicks, and none of the typical clear-coat discoloration. Doors have none of the typical sag and close solid with a gentle push. Aesthetically, this car is truly exceptional in every way, especially for a black car, and especially considering the many problems Chevrolet had with the paint on these cars. INTERIOR: 9 out of 10. Like-new red cloth upholstery, carpet, and floor mats (original owner never removed dealer plastic). Neither cracks in the dashboard, nor any "gumming-up" of the steering wheel, both common problems with Third Gen cars. The console door functions perfectly, as do all of the vents (another common problem, no spare change or match books here!) and the rear hatch release (yet another common problem). The original owner ordered this car with neither power windows, nor power seats, which were common options, but opted instead for both a rare dealer-installed sunroof and power antenna. Both function as new. Overall, the interior would be a 10, if not for a sagging headliner over the rear seats (yes, another common problem, which this car unfortunately suffers from, see photo). An aftermarket replacement (ABS, not cardboard) is available from Hawks Third Gen Parts for $195 plus $50 shipping (I will order it at cost, plus $200 installation, as a condition of sale) MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL: 10 out of 10. This car runs, drives, and functions as new, in every way. It's a base-level IROC, so the wheels are 15" instead of 16", and brakes are RPO option J-50 (front disks/rear drums), not RPO option J-65 (front and rear disks). Engine is RPO option L03, a 305 5.0L with throttle-body injection, not tuned-port injection (please see the photo of the Service Parts ID label in the console for more detailed info on how this car was optioned). No fluid leaks of any kind. Tires are like new. A/C blows ice-cold and functions properly. Original catalytic converter, exhaust, and muffler still in place. All electrical components, including lights, interior illumination, cruise control, horn, wipers, and radio function perfectly. FINAL WORD: except for the sagging headliner mentioned above, the only other thing that I can fault this car for is some condensation behind the passenger-side fog light lens (yet another common problem, see photo). Otherwise, I'd challenge anyone looking for one of these cars, especially a black one, to find one as nice or nicer. This is the one you want to put away. In-person inspections are encouraged, you will not be disappointed. Many thanks for looking, serious inquiries only please (as such, phone number provided upon request).
