Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE No Reserve!! 1998 Audi A4 Quattro Sedan 1.8L Turbo 5-Spd Manual Transmission Quattro AWD Clean, runs great, plenty of power. 27mpg HWY / 19mpg City Clear Title This car has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1998 Audi A4 Quattro Sedan. This car has the powerful, but economical 1.8L turbo engine, with the sporty 5-speed manual transmission, and the practical Quattro all-wheel drive system. The engine runs great and has plenty of power. It does not smoke, overheat or have blow-by, and I have not noticed any leaks. One of the coil packs has been replaced in the recent past. The transmission shifts normally up and down through all of the gears without any grinding. The clutch feels fine and does not slip. The clutch pedal engages a bit high for my liking, but this is adjustable. The brakes feel strong, and the suspension feels smooth on the highway, but comfortably firm in the corners. The front suspension looks like many of the components / bushings have been replaced in the not too distant past. A remanufactured axle / CV assembly has been fitted on the front driver’s side recently (the original is in the reman axle box in the trunk). The front passenger’s side CV is clicking, BUT there is a remanufactured replacement axle / CV still in the box that comes with the car. The rear suspension appears to be in good, but original shape. There is a faint “creaking” sound from the rear when going over bumps. I think this is coming from the end-links on the rear swaybar. The sleek, stylish exterior of this car is in about average shape for the age and mileage. From a distance, the black paint looks great, but up close there are many small scratches and scuffs that are visible, and many small stone chips along the front. There is at least no flaking of the clearcoat as is often seen on these Audis. There is a missing trim piece on the driver’s door that is in the trunk. Some of the other rubber trim pieces are loose. Other than the paint defects, the body is solid, without any rust or signs of accident damage, and the car is solid underneath. The alloy wheels are all in good condition and the tires are in good shape and have plenty of tread. The wipers and exterior lights all work. The windshield is cracked and will need to be replaced. The grey interior of this Audi about average for the age of the car, and is loaded with options. There are no cracks or sun damage on the dash or door panels. The center console is in good shape. The seats are comfortable and supportive, but there is a small tear on the driver’s seat. There are a few stains on the carpets and factory mats. The headliner is clean, but it is sagging a little bit in the back. This car has power seats, power locks, power mirrors, power windows, a power sunroof, cruise control and dual airbags. The factory radio works, but I have not tested the cassette deck or the CD stacker that is in the trunk. The A/C works, but has difficulty keeping the car cool when outside temperatures get above the mid-90s, so it probably needs to be charged. All of the gauges on the dash work. Currently the “airbag” warning light is on, which is the case for almost every one of these older Audi cars. It is usually a loose or broken connector underneath the driver’s seat. The “ABS” and “Brake” warning lights are also on. This Audi sedan is a good car that is refined, sporty and practical. The engine runs well, has decent power and gets decent gas mileage. The manual transmission is fun. The all-wheel drive is great for snow and other adverse weather conditions. I would say that this car is in overall average condition for the age and mileage. It has a few things that need to be fixed, and has some wear and tear, but is generally pretty good. It is not a new car, it is not “near-new." It is average for the age and mileage. If you don’t mind a used car that has some flaws and imperfections, and requires some maintenance, then this may be the car for you. I have identified all of the flaws that I have found on the car, there may be others that I have not found, so please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this car, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule.
