However, I have other bikes and rarely ride this bike. This year, I have only been on it twice. Nonetheless, I am compulsive about maintaining all of my bikes – changing the oil and other fluids, charging the battery etc. I maintain this bike as well as I would maintain a bike I planned to ride on a cross-country trip. The bike has relatively new Meltzer ME 880 (Marathons – 800 miles), a Russell Day Long saddle, floor boards (and the original pegs), a one year old battery and heavy duty highway bars. Currently the bike has the original summer/naked sport shield but I will also include a Memphis Shade windshield that easily attaches to the handlebars for touring and cooler weather (see pictures ). The bike also has 4 Giant Loop heat shields – 2 on each muffler. There is a very small ding on the gas tank. The original owner told me it happened soon after he purchased it. I mounted the GPS to the Memphis Shade windshield brackets but it can also be mounted to the handlebars. The wires for the GPS travel internally to a mini- 12 volt power socket - factory installed on the side of the bike. The original owner had the dealer install battery charging cables -- also on the side of the bike - for easy Hook up” with a battery charger or trickle charger.
