Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE NO RESERVE.1992 Toyota Celica GT-S 2.2L Engine 5-Spd Manual Transmission Runs well, decent power 26mpg HWY / 19mpg City Clear Title Eligible for cheap historic registration and insurance This car has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1992 Toyota Celica GT-S. This was the next highest version of the Celica under the All-Trac Turbo. Not many of these pop-up headlight Celicas are left, most having succumbed to rust, age and teenager 1st car abuse. This one needs work, but is in decent shape considering the age and mileage. The body is solid, with only a few spots of minor rust, and it has not been beaten to death by any boy-racers. This Celica runs well. The engine does not smoke, overheat or have blow-by. It is not a racecar, but it is not boring daily driver either. The 2.2L engine was meant to provide torque to keep consumers happy, and even though the car is not actually very fast, it feels good when you put your foot down. Timing belt was changed at 130k miles. The clutch feels like it has plenty of life. The manual transmission shifts up and down through all of its gears without any grinding. The suspension feels a bit bouncy in the back, so I would say that the car needs new shocks, and I think the front end is out of alignment and could use new bushings, etc. The brakes feel strong enough, but the ABS light is on, the rear rotors are very rusty, and the rear pads are almost completely worn, so it is time for some brake work as well. I get an occasional vibration on the highway that seems to occur after using the brakes a few times. I’ve pulled over to check the tires for bad spots and I’ve yanked on the wheels to check the bearings, and can’t find anything. When I drive off again, the vibration is gone. I’m not a mechanic, and have not had the car checked by one, but I suspect that one of the brakes is sticking, that the rotor on that brake has become warped from the heat, and that the stuck pads rubbing on the warped rotor are causing the vibration. It could be poor front-end alignment though, since there is some abnormal wear on the front driver’s side tire. There is an exhaust leak where the bolts have broken at the junction between the mid and rear sections of the exhaust, so it is a little bit loud. An exhaust shop may be able to repair this with some welding. Otherwise, the car seems to be mechanically sound. The body on this Celica has some wear and tear, but overall is in good shape for one of these cars. Other than some mild rust around the driver’s side rear wheel arch, the body and undercarriage are solid. There is a small dent on the right rear corner (pictured) and a small dent / scrape on the front left fender (pictured). There are some rock chips on the front, and the paint has some oxidation damage, mainly over the driver’s side. All of the glass is good, and the wipers and exterior lights all work. The tires in the front have some abnormal wear. Both rear tires have slow leaks, and will go flat in a few days if not kept pumped up. The blue interior of this car is in slightly above average condition for the age. The cloth seats are supportive and do not have any tears. The dash and door panels are free of cracks and sun damage. The carpets and factory mats have some mild wear and staining. The power windows, power mirrors and cruise control all work. The power sunroof and power locks are not working. This car has a driver’s airbag. A JVC KD-S39 stereo / CD player with USB and AUX ports has been installed and works. The A/C blows warm. The heater works, but there is a small amount of coolant vapor that comes from the vents when it is on, so the heater core may be starting to go bad. The dash gauges all work. The “ABS” light is on. Occasionally the “brake” light comes on and then goes off. When it rains there is a small leak from the seal around the trunk. There is a watermark on the front passenger’s seat, but in the recent torrential rains we have had there have not been any leaks around the sunroof. This would be a good car for someone that needs a cheap, reliable vehicle, or that likes these older Toyotas, but doesn’t want a boxy Camry. The pop-up headlight Celicas are getting few and far between, and finding one that’s not rusted out or beaten to death very is difficult. If you want a perfect car, you need to go lay out the money for a brand new one. This car is not in perfect shape and is not going to win any carshows. It does need work, but I would consider it a “drive and restore” vehicle. If you don’t mind a used car that has some flaws and imperfections, and requires some maintenance, then this may be the car for you. I have identified all of the flaws that I have found on the car, there may be others that I have not found, so please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this car, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule.
