1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula Edition “The Story” Due to unforeseen circumstances in my life I finally had decided that this was the year I was going to do the Hot Rod Power Tour. If you are unfamiliar with what that is, it is a 7 day car cruise with “thousands” of other cars that join. It is all pre-planned and every night each stop is a car show and a car lover’s dream. This year it started in Madison Wisconsin and ended in Baton Rouge Louisiana. So on May 16th of 2015 (A month ago basically) I found this car for sale on an on-line auction and purchased it sight unseen. A big gamble but from looking at the pictures I could tell it was a well taken care of car. I also could tell from the photos that the tires had plenty of thread on them but were old so I ordered tires for the car in advance. On June 5th of 2015 I flew to Nebraska to pick this car up! I drove a rental car to Fremont Nebraska, signed for the car, drove straight to a tire store and had the brand new BF Goodrich Radial TA’s mounted and balanced, changed the oil, looked the car over from end to end, everything looked like the car had been serviced regularly and honestly. So my adventure started! To make a long story short the trip was the adventure of a lifetime and personally I would like to do it every year from now on. The car performed flawlessly, not one single issue at all! It ran great, drove great and for that matter still does… According to the paperwork in the glove box in the previous 26 years the car had been driven 2,000 miles and I put that on it in the last month! But unfortunately for me this was a trip/adventure was preplanned for me to buy the car, do the power tour and when I returned home to sell the car, which is what I am unfortunately doing, I would love to keep it but it is simply not in the cards for me. I am the third proud owner of this vehicle. This Formula has less than 60,000 miles on it from new! Paint and Body: The car is wearing all original paint, there is no rust anywhere, you can tell this car was simply “VERY” well taken care of. Great-Great shape is all I can say. Look at the photos and if you need to see more simply ask. 60,000 mile original car! Engine and Drive Train: The engine runs flawlessly, the automatic transmission shifts flawlessly, this car simply is a time capsule. I would get in this car and drive it to the other side of the United States without a worry. (I nearly did!) Engine: Factory 301 V8 with factory 4 barrel Transmission: Factory Automatic New tires! 60,000 mile original car! Interior: The interior is all original and is in spectacular condition, the seats are like brand new, the dash is perfect, the hard plastic is not brittle nor scratched, I did install a new headliner in it when I got home as it had started to fall. 60,000 mile original car! NOTE: The gas gauge works from time to time? It must be a ground, it has been working and is working presently but I wanted to note that for future owner.I also have taken quite a few photos of engine and underside of car, simply send me a message and I will send them your way, the car is not "detailed" simply an original car. Options: AM/FM 8 track Factory CB Power Windows Power Locks Tinted Glass Rear Defogger A/C (Blows cold) Factory Floor mats Pulse Windshield Wipers Cruise Control Gauge Pack Clock (Not working) Console Velour Interior Sport Mirrors Power Steering Power Brakes Sport Steering Wheel And the power antenna is not working, the CB lights up but I cannot test to see if it works due to the antenna. Other: So there is my story, I bought a car sight unseen, drove it half was across the U.S. while enjoying every second. Now unfortunately I am offering up this car to you!
