2006 Ford Escape XLS - 4WD - Automatic - 2.3L I4 (4 Cyl.) Engine ......... Vehicle for parts or repair ....... Needs engine! This car has 323K miles and was driven every day right up until the day it quit running. It does start right now, but the Number 3 cylinder will not fire, and it will not stay running. I've been told that it's most likely a valve or lifter problem, but that the only fix would be a complete engine replacement. There are no other known serious issues with the transmission or drive train. Brakes and tires are good. Tires are Starfire 225-75-15 and have about 5/32" tread remaining. The car mechanically passed PA State inspection in November 2014, but was given a waiver on the emissions inspection because of the Check Engine light staying on due to the Number 3 cylinder misfire. There are no known steering problems and the wheel alignment seems good. Also, the radiator and coolant system is clean and has no leaks. All hoses and belts are good. The interior has normal wear and tear, but is clean. The seats are in relatively good shape, and have always had seat covers on them. The car was smoked in so there are burn marks. All glass is intact with no chips or cracks. There is no exterior body damage other than some rust around the fender edges above both back wheels. The left side also has some rust below the gas tank filler neck. The front edge of the hood has some stone chips which have surface rust on them. There are also a few spots of rust at the top edge of the windshield, and a rust crack at the lower left edge of the lift gate. All of these spots are visible in the pictures. The car has A/C, but it no longer gets cold. It may just need coolant, but may very well need the compressor replaced. I've never had it looked at. The car has an AM/FM/CD Stereo which plays, but the digital display screen is cracked and no longer lights up. This vehicle is being sold as-is, and is being sold as not running and not operable in its present as-is condition.
