Up For auction is a silver 1978 Mercedes Benz, 280 CE. This car is currently NOT running. When I purchased this Mercedes a few years back it did run, but got poor fuel mileage and " loaded up" when sitting at a stop light, when the light turned green it would be sluggish on take off with a small puff of black smoke from the tail pipe. Local, older mechanic whom I've used for years said it was more than likely a fuel injector problem. Dropped it off to him and waited for a call. Roughly 2 weeks later he passed away. I was contacted by his wife, and let into the shop to retrieve it. I am NOT a Mercedes expert but i do know all 6 fuel injectors are gone, a subsequent search of his shop and home garage failed to turn them up. Car turns over/ cranks over just fine. All lights work as they should. Horn works and gauges worked when last driven. 4 very good matching Kumho tires on factory rims. Newer exhaust. Silver Body that has some rust( see photos)but is pretty solid for the year, it appears to be all original paint. Black interior is in good condition except for a tear on drivers seat and some cracking of the dash board. Factory sunroof. Chrome bumpers/ trim / bright work all there and in good shape. Trunk is super clean and includes factory first aid kit. Undercarriage does show some rust in certain areas but looks good in most spots. I was told that the car spent some time in Florida and was driven there for the winter months as the previous owner had dual residences, inspecting title history confirms this. I have a clean, clear Indiana title. Please understand what you're bidding on!! This car seems to be all original and complete except for missing fuel injectors!!
