Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE No Reserve!! 2004 Volvo C70 Convertible 2.4L 5-cylinder Turbo DOHC Engine Auto Transmission Power top and windows 25 mpg HWY / 16 mpg City Clear Title This car has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2004 Volvo C70 convertible, the only non-“mom car” that Volvo has made since the P1800. Just 11 years ago this car had a $40k price tag on it. It is the perfect convertible for summer, with a powerful engine that gets decent gas mileage, power top that folds away neatly at the press of a button, all power options and leather seats, and it looks great. This car does need some TLC, but would make a great cruiser for someone for summer and year-round. The 2.4L turbo DOHC 5-cylinder engine has a surprising amount of power that feels evenly distributed across the RPM range, but it can still get 25mpg HWY. It does not smoke, overheat or have blow-by. The automatic transmission shifts through all of its gears normally. This car is a highway cruiser, but feels just as good on suburban or city streets. The suspension feels nice, but when you go over bumps it feels like it may be time for new shocks, or perhaps new ball joints in the front end. The brakes in this car are due for service. They work well enough to drive, but they make some noise, and the pedal pressure is lower than normal. I'm not a mechanic, but from what I can see through the wheel slots, it looks like the front rotors and pads are OK, but the rear rotors need to be turned or replaced, and the rear brake pads look like they are almost gone. Brake pad and rotor packages for this car are relatively cheap on rockauto.com. The brake fluid looks dirty as well, so it should probably be flushed / bled. It's probably worth having the calipers checked for wear at the same time. In addition to the brakes, the car has some faint, intermittent drivetrain noise that I suspect is coming from the CV joints / axles. There is an occasional clicking noise when the wheel is turned at full lock, and some faint noise from the front right when the car is coasting that disappears under acceleration and braking. The wheel bearings feel solid when I yank on the wheels, so I’m assuming it is the CVs. You can buy a complete axle with CV joint at rockauto.com for about $60 per side. For someone with adequate DIY mechanical skills, these repairs would not be that costly. The interior of the car is in great shape for the age. The dash and door panels are clean, with no cracks or sun damage. The leather seats are comfortable and supportive, with minimal creases. There is a very small tear on the lumbar support of the driver’s seat. The rear seat can fit actual human beings! The carpets are clean and free of tears. There is some staining on the factory mats, but these can be replaced easily. This car has power seats, power mirrors, power windows, remote power locks, cruise control, and heated mirrors. The driver’s power mirror is not functioning, and has been cheaply repaired, but all of the other power options work. The factory radio with Dolby surround sound works, though I have not tried the cassette deck or 3-CD stacker. The heat works, but the A/C blows warm air. The driver’s sun visor is missing. All dash gauges and lights work. The “service” light stays on for a minute after start-up, but no other warning lights are showing. The sleek exterior of this car is great to look at, and overall the paint is in pretty good shape for the age, but up close there is the odd ding and scratch. The body is solid. There is no rust or serious accident damage that I can see. It looks like there was a small scuff on the right corner of the front bumper. Also, some of the paint is flaking on the front bumper. The alloy wheels have a few scuffs, but otherwise look great. The front tires are near-new, the rear tires have at least half of their tread. The convertible top is in good shape, and the power mechanism works perfectly, folding the top neatly away under a panel that gives the car a nice, clean look when the top is down. I did not notice any leaks in the rain we had last week, but when I took the car through the car wash there were small leaks in the characteristic spots where the top meets the windshield. This was during the high-pressure wash, so it may not be a problem in the rain, but it wouldn’t hurt to check on seal replacements. The wipers and washer work well. All of the exterior lights work. The front passenger’s side turn signal is missing its lens. The driver’s side view mirror is missing its little plastic cover and someone has done a cheap repair of the cracked mirror by gluing another mirror over top. Overall though, the car is solid and it looks wonderful. This is a great looking car that would make a wonderful summer cruiser / daily driver for someone. It has attractive lines, ample power, decent gas mileage, a no-hassle power top, and a usable back seat. This is not a perfect car, it has some flaws and requires some maintenance. I am not a mechanic, I have described all of the flaws that I have found. If you don’t mind doing a bit of work, this would be a great car to buy. The car is certainly drivable, as I have been driving it on highways, and suburban and country roads, but the brakes should be tended to soon. If I was going to keep this car, I would make a maintenance plan and get the brakes and fluids done now, enjoy the car for summer, then do the front suspension in the fall, and the rear suspension in the spring. That would target the most important repairs first, space out the costs, and allow maximum enjoyment in the warmer months. I think that this is a great car with great potential, but that is my subjective opinion, so please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person so that you can form your own opinion before you bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this car, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule.
