Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE No Reserve!! 1994 Mazda Miata MX-5 Excellent Car for Summer Cruising or Motorsport 1.8L Engine, Manual Transmission, LSD - in working order. Cold A/C. Great MPG: 19 city / 25 Highway Historic – cheap registration and insurance! Clear Title This car has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1994 Mazda Miata. These are great little cars that have a great reputation. They are fun to drive, handle well, are reliable, cheap to run and cheap to maintain. Not many cars will give you more smiles per mile than a Miata, especially in the summertime with the top down. Owning one gives you all the perks of owning a british sportscar, minus the overheating, dodgy electrics, and cost of parts. Every person that drives one loves them. They are not only fun little cars for the average person, but they are proven in competition, being a favorite for autocross, and having their own SpecMiata SCCA series. On top of that, they get great gas mileage! I bought this car from an older, local owner that had it since 1996, and only sold it because of increased difficulty getting in and out of the small interior. This Miata has the 1.8L DOHC engine, which is a noticeable power increase over the earlier 1.6L. It revs easily, pulls hard, and runs well. It does not overheat or have blow-by. On cold start-ups there is a very small amount of oil smoke in the exhaust that stops after about a minute. There is a small oil leak, which I have not located. The clutch feels strong. The manual transmission shifts through all of its gears normally without any grinding or difficulty going into gear. This car is equipped with an LSD, and it does work (see pics). The suspension on this car feels good, and the handling is great. The brakes are also strong. It is a thrill to drive! On a couple of occasions when I've been idling in one spot for awhile it has had a short period of "hunting idle," but otherwise the car runs and idles great, so perhaps the MAF needs cleaning? The interior appears average for the age and mileage. The seats are very supportive. Underneath the seat covers, the black seats have minimal fading. The passenger’s seat is in good shape, the driver’s seat has a few small tears on the bottom. The carpets are not faded or torn. There are also no cracks on the dash or center console. A/C blows cold. The heater works well, as does the factory radio. The wipers and power mirrors work. All of the dash gauges work, but the tachometer flickers above 5k. There are no warning lights showing. This car has driver and passenger airbags. It has manual windows, so that saves some weight if you’re looking for an autocross car. The exterior of the car is in average condition for the age and mileage. The black paint has the occasional scratch and ding, and some areas are a bit faded, including the bumpers. There is some rust in the typical places around the rear wheel arches (pictured), but overall the shell appears solid. Underneath the car is solid. There is surface rust on the suspension components, but nothing that appears structural, and the floors are intact. The exterior lights all work. This Miata has alloy wheels, and all of the tires have good tread. The biggest problem on the car is that the rear window has shrunken and ripped. The previous owner had gorilla-taped a piece of clear plastic over the hole to keep the elements out, but that blew off a few days ago while I was driving down the road. A replacement top can be bought online from Sierra Auto Tops and Seats for $179. This would make a great summer car for someone, or a racecar. It is absolutely wonderful to drive. I would say that this car is about average condition for the age and mileage. The body needs some work, but the rest is in decent shape. This car is not in showroom condition, it has some faults, and I have described all of those faults that I have found, but it is a nice, reliable car. Please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid.
