More rare than that though, the low low miles and original condition. To find a 7.3L Diesel F250 4x4 with less that 200k miles is rare, but to find one with less than 100k miles is just unheard of. I see about 3000 cars and trucks at auctions every week and never miss the Diesel trucks going through the auctions. Rarely do I ever buy them though because most are really high mile units, most are beat to death work trucks, most are in rough to nearly dead since they have been worked to that point. But, even so, I'll see them with in excess of 200k miles and still running strong; especially the bullet proof 7.3L Diesel. More than rare is finding a One Owner, bought right at the dealership where I used to work and maintained beautifully right here in Las Vegas. That means no rust, that means spectacula During model year 1997 production, the last year of this body style, Ford Truck lovers would soon see their favorite truck and engine go away soon. The demand for these trucks were unreal. I was working for a Ford dealer back then and remember that there was never a discount on these models, and we rarely had retail stock on the line. Ford was shoving the Escort down our throats just to enable us to get the Heavy Duty trucks. We would give away or lose money on Escorts just to qualify for Super Duty's. At the time the dealership I was at was one of the nation's largest retail dealers too. Nearly twenty years later, these trucks still have their presence among the Ford buyers; they still know the value and reliability of the 7.3L Diesel. Most say it's the best Ford ever made. The Heavy Duty series are sought after for this reason amongst the brand lovers...or even those that go online to find what others are saying about their trucks. The 1997 model was produced for a year and a half late into 1998 just because the demand was so high...there is a reason for that. The 6.0L Diesel would follow this engine and did not perform like the 7.3L. You are here for the very same reason. You want the 7.3L and you want the best one you can find. More so, if you can find one with low miles (under 100k) you're going to find the needle in the haystack. But wait, there's more (am I starting to sound like a late night TV ad?) but there is more...this is a one owner, no rust, no wreck, not modified but fully maintained original in it's original skin and paint. Oh, did you also notice that there isn't a fifth wheel mount in that beautiful original bed? That's right, it didn't pull a fifth wheel either. What it did have in the bed was a pop up low top camper that we took off and sold. We just thought the truck didn't need a poptop camper for the next owner. Is the truck flawless? No! It's a truck that's 18 years old. There are some small dings and light scratches and chips, all of which I have not hidden in the pictures. The bodyside molding plastic coated center is sunburnt, the tires have great tread left, better than half but they are not brand new. I never change out good tires for brand new for two reasons, first, I know that buyers have their favorite brands and second, that just means I can sell the truck for a few dollars less. Better yet, I have a great local supplier that can get me the tie brand you like for a wholesale price. Does this truck need new tires? No, they are just not brand new is all. Does the truck need anything else? Not that we can find. We had the truck fully serviced, brakes checked and all fluids too.
