Selling my 1982 Honda CX500TC. Turbocharged full fairing version of the CX500. 34,750 miles. Tri-color with a pearl white base. Shaft-driven, 500cc V-twin, fuel-injected, and turbocharged. Single production year model, and the FIRST production turbo motorcycle on the market. Very futuristic styling and features including anti-dive suspension, Electronic Fuel-Injection, on-board computer diagnostic capabilities, etc.. These are rare bikes with production numbers close to 5,000 world-wide, and about 3,000 of them making it into North America. The bike runs and rides well, however, is not showroom condition at the moment due to the scratches and cracking on the fairings. It has typical Honda weathering on all of the fiber-glass, and some light damage to the left turn signal lens and fairings from the previous owner catching it on the garage door frame. The engine runs very smooth, and the turbo spools and spins perfectly, creating proper boost. It has the factory IHI turbo that was replaced some time ago when a previous owner was going to restore the bike. All of the waste-gate and intake reed systems were retained. The case was resealed after some of the engine electrics were sorted including the common stator issues. The starter motor was new when I purchased the bike. I have done regular maintenance including oil changes, rear gear oil (shaft-drive fluid), brake fluids, fuel system cleaning, coolant exchange, etc. The Turbo waste-gate was cleaned as they stick with age. The biggest problem to speak of is the common coolant seepage from the cylinder head gaskets when the bike is run to temp on a hot day. This is a longitudinally mounted v-twin, so this repair can be done with the engine in the bike, but I do not have the time to do so. The seepage is not bad, and the bike can be ran in it's current condition assuming you monitor the fluid levels. My plans to restore this bike have faded over the years, and now I'm looking to move it onto a new home. It would not take much to have this bike in really spectacular condition, and compared to a lot of other units I found while I was looking for this one originally, this one is at least completes, and can be driven as-is if desired. The bike is over 30-years-old, so it almost goes without saying, but there are no warranties remaining on the vehicle and it will be purchased as-is. For those with a close eye, the right muffler was off in some of the photos, and was sitting on the bench as I was looking into refinishing the heat-shield plates that say "TURBO". Unfortunately never got around to completing the task!
