Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1987 Chrysler LeBaron - An American Classic! 4 door 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine. Sweet "K-car" design that helped resurrect the Chrysler brand in the 1980s. The car runs and drives. I purchased it about a month ago thinking I'd need it for work, but recently got another job within walking distance and now no longer need it. The good? It runs, drives, and stops. I've used it to commute (previous owner used it for a 40 mile daily commute in the winter), drives smooth, shifts well, appears to get decent gas mileage (about 23 mpg combined), & most appliances appear to be working (with exception of A/C, but was told that can be recharged). Low mileage for a car of its age. Previous owner inherited it from his in-laws, the original owners, who did not drive it a whole lot. Previous owner kept a running record of all repairs (he completed many of them himself). Original owners' manual included, and I have purchase documents from way back in 1987! Pretty cool, huh? The bad? It's a 28 year old car, folks, so it has some issues. It leaks a bit of oil (probably about a quart every few hundred to a thousand miles), has something of an exhaust leak (I wouldn't recommend driving this car long distance with the issue...the smell enters the cabin and can be unpleasant), could use a new rear tire & probably a new battery, the rear struts leak, and has a fair amount of body rust around the wheel wells (it's been a Minnesota car for its entire lifespan and was driven heavily in winter, so the road salt has taken its toll on the wheel wells and part of the rear bumper has rusted off). The fabric (?) that used to coat the interior ceiling has rotted away, leaving a cardboard-ish material behind (I suspect this can easily be re-upholstered). That is all the issues I am aware of - you are welcome to bring a mechanic or inspect it yourself following a successful winning bid and deposit. The digital dash reads 180xxx; the previous owner informed me that the mileage is actually closer to 120xxx. The original dash shorted out (it's included with the car), so a replacement model with higher mileage was installed in its place. Previous owner kept a record of repairs (timing belt was replaced within the last few thousand miles) which I'll include with purchase and I just replaced the oil about ~100 miles ago - if you're good at sleuthing and math I bet you can determine the actual mileage - you'll notice a dramatic shift as you thumb through the repair log. That all said, what you're bidding on is a RUNNING CAR with under 200,000 miles that'd be perfect as a winter beater or commuter vehicle and an AMERICAN CLASSIC. Mechanics take note - with a few adjustments (particularly to the exhaust) - this car should last you for several years. Where else are ya gonna find that kinda deal? I don't have a title currently (the one I received from the previous owner was clean, and my new title is on its way in the mail - don't ya love how the DMV takes its sweet time with things? I'm probably a week or two away from receiving it and can send it along as soon as I receive it). I can provide you, however, with a copy of the previous title that was signed over to me and a bill of sale that should be sufficient to get you to your state's local DMV (I also have all the previous titles/registrations from the previous owners to prove the title is clean) I'll try and upload some more pics in the next day or two and a video! Terms of sale: $100 deposit must be received within 48 hours of successful winning bid. Car is sold AS-IS with absolutely no refunds or returns. You must pick up the car in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA and full payment must be made within 7 days of auction close. No exceptions will be made. I would strongly recommend towing or trailering this car due to the exhaust leak unless you live in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area.
