Vehicle Detail
Up for bid today is a 1986 Pontiac Firebird. This car was special ordered by a local lady and was quite a sharp ride in its day, bright red with T-Tops and snowflake wheels. This car was acquired from her at least a dozen years ago and has only had two owners over the last 29 years. It now has a bit over 200k miles on it and is in need of some repairs. It runs and drives however power is low. It would be best used for parts or restoration. It has never been in an accident and the unibody is straight. The car has power window and power brakes. It does not have power locks or power seats. It has factory Performance Audio. The original radio has been upgraded with a Pioneer CD player with iPod connector, L&R RCA jacks and a headphone jack for connecting various music players. The nonfunctional original radio is included with the car. Also included are 8 replacement speakers that fit the car. I believe they are 4"x6". 4 are Pioneer, I believe two are Polk Audio and two are Kicker. The car has 4 snowflake style 15"x7" wheels with new tires. 3 tires are like new and the 4th is actually brand new. Tires are Primewell 225x60x15. The car has all 4 center caps plus 3-4 extras. Also included are a number of other wheels. There are two Firebird Formula 16" wheels with WS6 center caps. These have 222x55x16 tires with good tread, about 5/32". There is also a 15x7 "20-spoke" wheel with no tire. Finally there is a set of 15x7 steel rally wheels that have been painted black. They have 215x65x15 BF Goodrich tires. Two are kinda bald and the other two have OK tread. The engine is a 2.8L. It is the third one for this car and was freshened up a bit and fitted with a Crane Compucam when it was installed a number of years ago. It has a new water pump and timing chain and rebuilt injectors. The car was running a bit rough and the injectors were changed out for a matched-flow set. The water pump and timing chain were replaced at that time. Since then it has run but power is low. The torque converter is a Pro Torque rebuilt unit that was installed a while back. The battery is an Interstate that is a few years old and packs plenty of punch. Other than that, just look at the pictures. The body is straight with some dents and rust. As shown, there is some rust in the quarters, particularly ahead of the rear wheels. The driver's side floor needs rust repair, the passenger side is believed to be solid. One headlight stays up all the time. What you see is what you get. This would be a great project car or parts car for completing another restoration. 4th Generation Camaro/Firebirds aren't getting any easier to find. Don't let this one get away.
