Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a very clean, low mileage, used 1998 BMW M3. This car has just over 53,000 original miles on it. It has all the right opens, manual transmission, Vader seats, power windows, power door locks and power mirrors. I have owned a few M3's over the years but there is still something special about the E36. It is not the fastest M3 given some of the new ones that have come out since, but it is tough to beat the experience of driving this one. This is a two owner vehicle (just one owner prior to myself) and has never been in a any accidents or had any paintwork done to it. ALL of the original factory VIN tags from the factory are on the car (trunk, quarter panels, hood and doors). I purchased this vehicle late in 2010 with just under 30,000 miles on it at the time. I was living in Manhattan and only used the car on weekends for trips out of town, hence why the mileage has remained so low. The Carfax and AutoCheck are both 100% clean. I have all the original documentation that came with the car. I also have maintenance records for any work that I have had done since I owned it. The car was always kept in a garage and used sparingly. The tires are relatively new Pirelli P-Zero Nero's and still have plenty of tread left. The car has almost all the options from the factory except for the rear spoiler. The back seats in the car were literally used less then 5x since I have owned it. Never smoked in. Look around online, the E30 model that is the earlier version of this car are starting to go for insane prices. I don't know if the E36 is going to get that rare, but this would be the one to own if they did. Look around on eBay or at other online sites, most of the E36's either have a ton of miles, are beaten to heck, have questionable title history or some bad combination of all three. If they are as clean as this they are probably for sale by Enthusiast Auto and they are asking $25k for it. This is a great opportunity to get an E36 with a manual transmission at a very reasonable cost. I have a CLEAN title in hand with no lien. If you bid please have your financing lined up in advance. Given the age of the vehicle I don't think most financial institutions will finance the full purchase cost. You are welcome to have the vehicle inspected at YOUR COST. The car does need two things done to it: 1) The back of the drivers seat is not working (the bottom portion does work). I believe that the gears for the seatback are plastic and are stripped...I think this is a common problem with this model. 2) The sunroof is also not working. When it stopped working I took it to a local BMW dealer to diagnose the problem. The motor is going to have to be replaced. For the time being, they have closed it and disconnected the power. It has never leaked and will not leak now. The good news is that when the diagnosed this for the $150 I had to pay they did a full diagnosis on the car. The only other things that they identified had to be addressed were small maintenance issues that have all been taken care of (I have the receipts for all of this work). 3) The front emblem is a worn out and needs to be replaced. 4) The right front inner wheel well is rubbing slightly. I have had my mechanic try and push it back in but it just seems to eventually work itself loose and rub when the wheel is turned very sharp. It doesn't run at all when you are driving it, just when you turn the wheels really sharp. It is JUST the plastic wheel well in the inside...nothing more. I think this part is somewhere around $150 to replace. I have 100% positive feedback so bid with confidence. If you think your husband, wife, cat, dog or college (or non-college) going child will not want you to own this car (after you have bid and won it) please do NOT bid on it. This car is 17 year old and does have some normal signs of wear, it is not a new car so please do not expect it to be. I have given you 100% disclosure on everything that needs to be addressed on this car, so you know exactly what you are getting. If you buy another car that is cheaper you are likely just buying yourself a headache. The car still has license plates on it. If you win the auction, I will not let you use the plates that are in my name to transport it. You are responsible for arranging transportation and proper insurance. You will not be allowed to leave with the vehicle until payment has cleared. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
