Vehicle Detail
Update: 3/5/2015 I have received some questions concerning the authenticity/validity of this vehicle. This is a TRUE, AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, MANUFACTURED 428 Cobra Jet, Big Block, Mach 1 Mustang as manufactured by Ford Motor Company in 1969. - The Door tag/data plate is missing. I have a reproduction one available from Marti Auto Works. - I have a Marti Report - I have a clear, clean New Mexico Title baring the VIN# of this car. - The ORIGINAL "Buck Tag" (I think it's called). A tag, it's located behind the R/H head lights on the radiator cradle/mount - that's where I found it. The VIN matches the ORIGINAL VIN tag that is rivited to the cowling, dash, inside the window - picture uploaded. - The New Mexico Title in the previous owner's name, signed and open (I haven't signed it), bares a VIN that matches the ORIGINAL Buck Tag VIN and the Dash/Windshield/Cowling VIN - picture uploaded. I live in Alabama. Alabama does not issue a Title for vehicles older than 1976. I am originally from Louisiana; my entire family still lives there. I can go to Louisiana and get a Louisiana title in my name, if this would make a buyer more comfortable with the purchase of this car from me. This car is mine. I bought and paid for it from it's rightful previous owner, and I can sell it on a Bill of Sale. If you're not comfortable with that I will do what I can to accomodate as previously mentioned. - I don't know about holes in the radiator cradle for oil cooler mounting and moving both horns to the R/H side of the car - I think that was for the SCJ/Drag Pack Cars, maybe an R-Code thing. - There is another tell tale sign that further proves the authenticity of this car. There are reinforcement metal plates; the lower shock towers are double plated. As I understand the reinforced shock towers is a big block 428 thing. I added "Enlarge Pictures" feature to this listing for the purpose of enabling buyers to get a close-up view of the pictures and these indicators. The more I look. the more I'm convinced, because I see more and more traces of the original Candy Apple Red color of this car. Folks I don't BS anyone, about anything. I'm convinced this is a true, authentic 1969 Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet Q-Code car, and if I weren't 99.9999% sure of that: 1) I wouldn't have bought it 2) I wouldn't present it for sale as such an item. I was asked if I would entertain an offer for the car without the engine block - answer: yes. I think the engine block is worth $2000.00 - $2500.00. - A Solid, Very Complete/98% Complete Rolling Chassis - Authentic 428 Cobra Jet Engine block - C6 Automatic Transmission - Marti Report - some other parts - flywheel, carburator, camshaft, lifters, push rods, etc.. (these are things I wouldn't use in my build) - you can have them. - Any Questions Call or Text 33four-four77-four1four6 $26,0000 obo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For sale is a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang this is an original Q-Code car, meaning it was manufactured with the 428 Cobra Jet big block engine. This one is the Non-Ram Air version. It's in need of a full rotisserie restoration. I have an authentic 428 Cobra Jet engine block to go with this rolling chassis. YES, this is an AUTHENTIC 428 Cobra Jet engine block - rare, hard to find, and expensive. It goes with the rolling chassis, as well as the C6 Transmission. NO, this is NOT a bored/stroked 390 block, it is a true 428 Cobra Jet casting. I have other parts that can/will go with the purchase - if you want them - too much to list. From what I see it needs (items missing): - Front Bumper - Grill - Some chrome trim near the headlights/grill area - Rear valance - you can see the gas tank beneath the rear bumper - Lock cylinder for the trunk All glass is there and near perfect - very complete car. If you were to put an engine in it you could drive it today (I wouldn't consider it road worthy with the tires and worn suspension bushings and bearings, but it's that complete). It has factory power steering, and factory power front disc brakes. I towed the car into town today - from New Mexico; the most rain it has ever seen in 45 years is on the trip here; I'd almost guarantee it - this is a very low/very little rust, very complete 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1. - Any Questions Call or Text 33four-four77-four1four6 $26,0000 obo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My initial plan: I bought it to restore it. I plan to bore and stroke to 465ci, but keep the compression to use 93 pump gas, do every trick in the book to some Edelbrock aluminum heads, install high lift/high duration hydraulic Comp Cams cam, roller lifters and roller rockers. I'm NOT going for an "original" restoration. I would go back with the original Candy Apple Red paint, and all original 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 stripes/badging. This car came with a C6 Automatic Transmission, and a 3.25:1 standard Ford 9" rear end. I'd go with a 4-speed toploader, and 4.30:1 Detroit Locker. Oh, and long tube headers. My plan for the restoration theme is a "70's Sleeper". You may ask, "How in the heck could a '69 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 ever be considered a Sleeper? It can't!" Well, yes it can. The Ram Air - R-Code 69-70 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 was considered the "real" performer. It's the "drag pack" car. So basically I would have the Non-Ram Air hood where folks would think I just added a cam for a lopey sound to my Q-Code car, but the heads, 4-speed, and rear end would lay in wait. This car is solid, virtually no rust at all. It absolutely, positively, without a doubt does NOT need any body panels whatsoever due to rust issues. It has spent nearly it's entire 45-year life in the Southwest - I have a clear New Mexico title for the car. The car has to be approximately 98% complete. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHIPPING This car is being sold with local pickup as the delivery method. I will do all I can to assist with your arranged shipping, even pushing onto a trailer or whatever. I'll meet and coordinate with your arranged carrier if that's what is required. As for the AUTHENTIC 428 Cobra Jet engine block and C6 Transmission I'll help with placing them on a truck or help to palletize those if necessary. You are responsible for local pickup or coordinate shipping carrier - of course after full payment has cleared.
