Vehicle Detail

1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 “BLACK CAT” This BLACK CAT combines the comfort and luxury features of the legendary XR7 with the performance look of the Eliminator. Yes, this is a beautiful 1969 Cougar XR7 dressed in her factory black on black and is an attention getter. This is a 2 owner car out of California. Built on January 29, 1969 at the Dearborn plant and sold to the original owner on February 14, 1969 at Townsend Lincoln Mercury in San Diego, California. This rust free and accident free car remained in southern California until the owner sold her in 2003 to a collector in Florida. The car received a cosmetic restoration in 2004-2005 with one repaint to the original black base coat/clear coat and retains the original luxury leather interior. The original owner did in fact ordered this luxury featured car with "radio delete" but changed his mind upon arrival and had the dealership install AM/FM Stereo. During restoration the vinyl top was removed to provide a much cleaner and desirable look. In addition, an Eliminator hood scoop and rear spoiler were added as it just looks right. Take a look underneath and in the trunk as this car is that nice. The car is powered by her original 351W engine and upgraded now with 4 barrel carburetor and matted to rare 3-speed manual transmission. According to the Deluxe Marti Report only 438 XR7 were built with this engine/transmission combination and only 284 were black exterior with black leather interior. This car has been driven to local and national car shows over the past 10 years and it is a pleasure to drive with the ideal gearing ratio for cruisin. It starts, runs and drives great so get in and take this one home! I've tried to return all telephone calls and emails. I just added 3 pictures of the undercarriage and you will see how original and solid it is. Let me answer several of the questions for everyone's benefit. 1) A buy it now price has been added -- yes, the vehicle is for sale locally and auction can end early if the vehicle is no longer available. This is a good price for a good car. 2) Yes, I encourage questions and inspections. I have an out of state buyer coming today. 3) The chrome is original and has not been re-chromed or reproduction. 4) Yes, the original engine is 351W V-8. The previous owner told me the engine was rebuilt right around 95k miles. So, the rebuilt engine has 30ish thousand miles on it. It starts (added now with desirable PerTronix ignition); idles and drives out as you would want her too. 5) Wheels are 14x6 Magnum 500 with BF Goodrich 215/70/R14 tires. 6) Does not have power steering and not power brakes. 7) Does not have A/C -- although previous owner had it installed previously so everything in place for the interior. 8) Yes, the heater hose is bypassed -- a new heater core is installed but this car has not been out in cold weather in a very long time. Easier to maintain. 9) Yes, I have worked with several overseas buyers and shippers. I'm glad to secure the vehicle inside for up to 30 days for purchase and longer can be negotiated. 10) The original Marti Report goes with the car; also, several California vehicle registrations from original owner including his license plate which is on the car now. The owner's manual goes with the car. 11) The horn switch that mounts inside the grip of the steering wheel was bad so I have a new one that goes with the car. Thanks again and Good luck! Greg
