Vehicle Detail
Well last week we had a red coupe we sold on Ebay. Really nice car, but if you really wanted a convertible, I have one of those for sale too. 1966 Corvair Monza convertible was purchased from an older gentleman in southern Alabama in 2004. He had just had it repainted it's original color of white by Macco. My wife loves this car and it was our favorite of the 4 corvairs that we owned. She grew tired of the plain white color and asked me to paint it 1995 Miata Red. She and I stripped it to bare metal and brought it back to life as “Hello Officer Red.” There was a small amount of rust in the drain area behind the right front tire, which also is the floor vent. New metal was used to repair. Small area of rust in the rockers on both sides. These also were repaired. The rockers were then flushed with Ospro. Then flushed with Por-15. Base coat/clear coat was the paint of choice. The trunk has a spare tire rod holder welded in to hold the tire, then it was the splatter painted, then sealed with same clear coat as the exterior paint, which gives this a sparkling look under lights at car shows. Really neat look. New carpet installed, ashtray light, trunk light, engine compartment light. It has a wood steering wheel with correct turn signal stalk. Am/Fm radio that works great. The top is in nice shape and it is a power top. 13 Inch wheels with NOS Wire spinners. Which has been on the car approx. 6 years. When it was painted 4 years ago these items were installed. NOS rear moldings, Monza emblems and Clarks wheel well trim were added. Halogen headlights, new taillights, the engine cover is black base coat/clear coat. The front lower vent doors have been rebuilt. I added air conditioning, the evaporator is after market but the rest is factory. I installed 8” electric fans to help keep it cool when you are at a stop sign light. They only come on when the compressor is on. We live in Florida. It's always warm here Or almost always.*S* The engine is a 95 HP automatic 2 speed transmission. It is a sweet running engine. This car is a show winner. If you want, I can fill the backseat with trophies. The sides of the car are as straight as a arrow. The steering box has also been rebuilt. Brakes have been rebuilt along with wheel cylinders, hoses, lines, and dual master cylinder. Silicone brake fluid change over single exhaust was changed to dual. Added Corsa lower rear trim (NOS) when painted. Door and rear trim panels new from Clarks. Door handles were replaced NOS. The wife and I have decided to sell everything and go on the road and travel the USA. Otherwise you could not pry this car from our dead hands. I hope this car goes to someone who will enjoy the Corvair mystique as we have. Bid High and Often. We need traveling money *S* You get what you pay for.We went to, Big Daddy, Don Garlit's, museum and luckily he was there and he signed the trunk lid. Also have photos of him signing the car. Will work with buyer in delivery and keep in contact on the progress of all aspects of the deal. Read Feedback from the coupe we sold last week.
