Vehicle Detail
1986 Porsche 928s – 85,295 miles – Automatic – 5 Liter DOHC Most of these cars have not been sorted. What does this mean? It means that when you buy a 928 from the mid 1980’s or earlier it is no less than 30 years old and likely has not been attended to properly. Even the cars that look great and have been garage queens have little gremlins running around all over the car (read electrical issues) as can be easily read about on the Porsche forums. On these forums you can read what befalls 95% of these 928’s that people have not paid any attention to past keeping them clean, waxed and garaged along with the normal oil change. A low mile car IS NOT a guarantee that the car is ok. Time does a few bad things to 928’s that it does not do to many other cars. Again I suggest reading the forums before buying any of them and making sure someone has done what I have done. With all this said these problems do not exist on my car which is up for auction here. Why you ask? Well because I have sorted them all out for you. Below is a list of all the work performed on the car. I have tons of pictures to back up all the work plus receipts, and full service of what I have done. I wrench my own work on all my cars and have been doing so since I was a teenager (50 now). I have this car that is up for auction, a 1988 C4 Corvette, a Ferrari Mondial and a Lotus Esprit Turbo and I wrench them all myself. Why am I selling this car you ask? I have decided 4 cars are just too many and I have the Corvette which is a 5.7 liter aluminum V8 automatic GT just like the Porsche and I would rather keep the Vette. So here is what has been done to the car in no particular order: TitleCar is titled under my nameCar is titled in the State of New YorkTitle is clear and in my hands Engine Bay Engine starts right up and runs very strong and is extremely clean with no detectable leakageTiming Belt replacedCam end seals replaced (smart thing to do when you are doing the timing belt and almost no one does)Oil and filter replacedAir filter replacedAC rechargedPower steering hoses replaced and new fluid addedPower steering rack boot replacement drivers sideEngine cleaned extensivelyRadiator and overall cooling system flush and cleaning completed: This is not your BS Valvoline pressure job. I took it apart, flushed the hell out of it with all the water line valves removed, pulled the block drains, flushed the heater core and cleaned it all and then put it back together.High pressure gas lines replaced in the engine bay and the fuel filter at rear of car replacedReplaced wiper fluid line valves in the front deck lidPulled HVAC/Heat Air box and resealed it and cleaned all of the leaves out of the AC and heater core sectionsCowl drains clearedWipers replaced front and rear Brakes, Wheels & Tires Car stops on a dime and drives like its on rails, super smooth and fast as you would expect from a Porsche 928 5 literRotors replacedCalipers replacedFluid replacedFlex lines replacedPorsche 928s brushed aluminum slot rims installed (these are the original rims on the car not the chrome ones in the pictures currently)All new sport racing street tires - Bridgestone Potenza ES970's Body Sunroof adjusted and operates perfectlyNew front air damFront deck lift shocks replacedRear light bezel gaskets replaced on both driver and passenger sidesThis car is 100% rust free.Car is a Porsche Black exterior with a maroon interior. Some people call the interior color burgundy.Body has a few dings and a couple of scratches here and there plus general wear for a 30 year old car with what appears to be the original paint as best I can tell and it looks pretty good in my opinion. I waxed it today before I took the pictures and parked it under a tree so you could al see the reflective nature of the paint which is still in nice condition for a car of this age. On the drivers side under the door and the area behind the front wheel at the bottom of the front quarter panel you see a haze area. That is just some of the wax in the factory OEM chip guard paint which as many of you know has a texture and I just forgot to clean off the left over wax but I wanted to get the pictures up since so many of you guys have been so patient. Electrical Central Electrical Panel (CE Panel) has been removed, cleaned extensively, all fuses replaced and relays replaced where needed then reinstalled in the carAll grounds in the entire car have been unbolted, cleaned extensively and re-bolted downAll switches in the entire car have been cleaned and assured to workMajor power plug (known as the 14 pin plug in Porsche world) in the engine bay has been extensively cleaned and is in perfect conditionEngine ground cable replacedBattery replacedBattery ground cable replacedAlternator cleaned and all wire connection extensively cleaned to assure charging transferNegative battery pole kill switch installedAll blubs replaced in every light in the car both interior and exterior and they all workDash gauge pod removed, cleaned, tested and re-installed and works perfectlyAll relays in the car pulled, cleaned, tested, replaced if needed and re-installed Transmission Transmission shifts perfectly through all gears as designedTransmission and Final Drive fluid replaced I have tons of receipts and the previous owners had done all of the required normal maintenance and the owners manual is stamped with service stamps accordingly. The car starts first go and runs excellent and shifts perfectly. All the above work was not done in one day but over the course of a year so I have been using the car for about 1000 miles during this period so some of these repairs have up to 1000 miles on them. The interior has been completely removed, cleaned, oiled (leather) and put back in. There are no tears and it really looks great. This is really a great car you can drive anywhere. Please don't buy it and put it back in a garage. Use the dam thing just as Ferry Porsche expected you to do. I will gladly help with arranging the delivery but the cost of the delivery to your location is for the winner of the auction to pay. It you are on the east coast along Interstate 95 I can arrange to drive the car to you as I travel back and forth from Boca Raton FL. to NYC every 3 weeks or so but cost will be on you. The car is at my house in Boca Raton FL. Good luck with your bidding.
