Vehicle Detail
This is a nice 2003 Insight with a clean title. It is a nice car that gets great gas mileage because of the design of the car. It is made of aluminum, has the preferred automatic transmission and weighs only 2200 pounds. That is 1000 pounds less than the Toyota Prius. The tires are in new condition and the a/c is cold. It has a Mofset XML 8150 cd/am/fm/Bluetooth player so you can stream music from your phone through the original sound system. The IMA battery charges as it should and the autostop works perfectly. It has 47,000 miles which is way way below average miles for this type of car. These cars last well into the 400,000 miles mark and will also go up in value because they are rare finds. Honda built very few of these cars world wide. Even Jay Leno, an avid car collector, says the 1st Generation Insight will soon be collectors items. Honda still services them also. And with gas prices going up again this could be a car you will keep forever. They cost $30,000 to build and they feel very solid while driving. This model of Honda Insight is still to this day the absolute king of mpg of all hybrids. Sure you can buy an all electric Chevy Volt or even a Tesla but do you really want to spend $45,000 to $70,000 on a car that has a charge rate of just 5 miles per hour? Tesla owners say you can get a faster charge if you plug in at an RV park? Really? What fun. Talk about "limitations". Even the Nissan Leaf has a range of only 80 miles or so before you need to stop whatever you are doing or wherever you are traveling to and search for a place to plug the car in for 8 hours. Basically for the price of a used Ford Focus you buy my car and get 60 miles per gallon or more depending on how you drive. The 1st Gen Insight was introduced into the US a full 7 months before the Toyota Prius so was the very 1st Hybrid on the market. Even today in 2015 no Prius or other hybrid car can beat my car's mpg. Here is the proof www.motherearthnews.com/green-transportation/miles-per-gallon-cars-zb0z11zblon.aspx and a neat insight video www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WYypHmERtw Also no smog is ever needed. Lastly, I am a small car dealer and specialize in these Insights. If you win this auction and live in California you will also need to add salestax. There are no other silly fees I charge besides salestax. You'd have to pay tax anyways when buying from a private party but you pay this yourself at the dmv so somehow it does not feel like part of the purchase for some reason. With me I do the dmv for you (for free) so this is why I collect the tax. If you live out of state you do not have to pay me salestax. Also please remember my car is a 2003 model , not a 2000, 2001 or even a 2002. It is newer than those models so that is why my price is a bit more than older Insights. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I love these cars and enjoy sharing as much information as possible so others will learn to love them too. If you do live far away and want to fly here choose John Wayne Santa Ana Airport and I will pick you up. It would make a fun road trip for you and a cheap one too because gas is still below $3 per gallon. It might not be by the time of this auction ending though as prices are going up each day. On Feb-14-15 at 11:14:00 PST, seller added the following information: By the time of the auction's end I will have re-glued the back edge of the headliner material and also re-painted the door window edges with heat resistant flat black paint. Also if you prefer the stock radio I have another Insight that I can trade radios with.On Feb-16-15 at 13:03:12 PST, seller added the following information: I have received a few questions about the roof and yes it has the typical clear coat fading that is common on many Honda's, not just the Insight. This can be repainted for a few hundred dollars if you want to do this. I feel the car looks great regardless and really I just focus on the excellent gas mileage.
