I am pleased to present to you a very nice driver quality stock low mileage (93k) un-molested 1988 corvette with a ton of new parts, tires, exhaust, paint etc to bring it to a very nice car for the age and really unique look with black powder coated wheels and very rare color for the year. I restore , design and build older cars (usually 60's and back) and cycles and aquired this already nice car with a lot of new parts and such but it was thought to have slipping transmission by previous owner and he already spent a ton of money on it, and was scared what it would cost to fix so just wanted out of it. Plus it needed a few other items to get to this point and to be fussy it could still use some minor cosmetic items, but not needed... Please see below the details and a little about myself... I have been an industrial maintenance technician for my entire working life and so many of my skills such as welding, designing, etc spill over from that professional background into my real passion- designing, building, and restoring, custom cars, trucks, and motorcycles. I think what separates me from others is in my attention to detail and a real passion for what I do. I treat every single job or build as if it were my own. I have several classics of my own and really no room for another but , I wanted to bring it back to a car that works and looks good that the average guy could afford to drive and enjoy. I am a very humble, passionate, car guy, who really put a lot of time and money into this vette to make it a nice affordable driver..everyone can afford. So that's a little about me and my two cents, now on to the vette! And my descriptions can get pretty in depth but thats how i like it so you know as much as possible in detail. Chassis New brake pads, front and rearHandles awesome. Factory optioned Z52 PACKAGE, which includes heavy duty cooling, bigger 17"x 9.50" wheels, oil cooler, quick steering, lower gear ratio in rear at 3.07 (most this era are 2.73) and some more i am sure i am leaving out . No rust on any steel frame areas Power steeringPower brakesVery clean undercarriage in general. BodyNEW PAINT JOB IN FACTORY COLOR, METALLIC GREY, ONLY 644 PRODUCED IN THIS COLOR, very sharp color with the black powder coated wheels 35TH anniversary year corvette Paint is nice, not show quality, but not faded and ugly like most vettes this year. i think it could be better with a good day of buffing and polishing too, but it shines nice and looks good for like i said driver qualityA few chips in nose from normal driving and a few small bubbles, not sure why at rear of hood, we know its not rust !Left front side marker lamp has a few spider cracks in lensDriving light bezels a little fadedReplaced taillight lens were faded someglass has some normal scratches on windshield and side glass like seen alot on these cars, but nothing major.Overall very nice looking car on the outsideTarga top is black tinted and overall nice with some minor acid rain marks from the years but shines nice and no spiders cracks which is good. InteriorNew JVC cd stereo head unit with correct factory adapter to look oem. New inner door window weatherstrip New upper door panel trim and defogger bezels. New SEAT covers look very nicePower windows, mirrors , power seats work fine.. New 100% rebuilt digital gauge cluster. As you may or may not know these were a common problem in these cars after 20 yrs or so. Had professionally all rebuilt with updated lcds and power supply etc so should be good another 20yrs or more (another thing prior owner was scared of price) it was acting up when i got it, so just had all redone, works great now. Could still use rear view mirror , shiny part worn and speaker bezels in back kinda rough looking and door panels fit kinda funky at top , some minor plastic trim cracks here and there, mostly in cargo area. again common in these cars but again very minor things i just didnt wanna spend money on since new owner may not mind as a driver and or can fix up a little more yourself over time.Overall again interior is very nice looking especially with new seat covers.Some additions include rear corvette embroided mat in rear cargo area and sill plate protectors, steering wheel cover, corvette mats, corvette thicker leather pad for center console, and original owners manual and top removal tools as shown. Engine/Drivetrain/ElectricalAverage looking all stock engine compartment for the year, could use some detailing if fussyLow miles for the year at 93k New bosch platinum 4 - plugsNew cap and rotorAluminum heads in this year, a plus over prior c4'sK&N air filter with slotted air box. Great running engine, no leaksCruise control works good Charging system works great Runs nice and cool with hd cooling...165 -175 degrees Gets every bit of 65lbs oil pressure cold and averages 45-55 when warm and cruising. Transmission is a TH700r4 4 speed auto and was fine, had converter going out. Shifts nice and firm now. New torque converter, seals, filter and complete transmission flush and refill. All new factory exhaust pipes and mufflers, sounds nice. Brand New Falken Z RATED Tires all the around P275/40/17 (another expensive item you dont need with most !)Headlights flip and work good like they should ! Sometimes throws vss code and service engine light comes on so sensor may need replaced, did it to me once before and i cleared code and it just did it to me again when i drove to take pics, so i wanted to mention again to be honest but i dont have time to put one in and my lift is tied up. So if you dont know what that is, it is a vehicle speed sensor on transmission, they are only like 35 bucks and simple to change, car can drive fine with this code, it just delays the shift points a little , thats it. Actually some may like it cause it will wind out a little more....New powder coated factory wheels look sharp !Noticed lower foot area interior lights dont work today too, may just be bulbs.Car runs and handles awesome. If you never drove one of these vettes you would love it , they are like a cockpit inside with arms around ya, Very cozy and get good gas mileage for a V8 car too when not really romping on them. Like in the 20's mpg easy. I have had a few over years. In summation this Corvette is a one of a kind , very rare color, low mileage nicely detailed driver, that turns a lot of heads still and will bring MANY years of enjoyment, while remaining in style, for years to come. All the big dollar items have been replaced already and I have put quite a few hours into this car , Also, several bucks as you can see in new parts to make this as nice as possible and ready to drive without going overboard, would make great first sports car for someone to enjoy and grow with.
