Vehicle Detail

I purchased this car from the original owner for my daughter in 1999. She drove it while in high school and college, and at some point during the summer after graduation, the odometer stopped working and stuck at 131,084. She drove it between Greensboro, NC and Charlottesville, VA every couple of months for the next three years, but, except for a round trip to Houston, it was otherwise parked on the UVA campus while she completed her studies. She bought a new car, moved to Houston and transferred the Volvo’s title to me. I already had a car and a work van but kept the Volvo, mostly for sentimental reasons, though with dreams of possibly restoring it one day for my personal use. Together, we may have added 8,500 miles to the 131,084 showing when the odometer broke, so the actual mileage is likely no more than 140,000 miles – certainly no more than 142,000. Motor: I love driving this vehicle. It's quite comfortable and drives smoothly with no known problems. The heater and heated seats work great, as does the A/C, which now needs Freon. The car also needs a new windshield wiper motor and blades - at a cost of approximately $365.00, according to my local Volvo repair shop. Exterior: Garaged before January 99, the car has since been left outside so needs a good cleaning to remove gummy residue that fell from nearby trees (see photos). The driver’s door was sideswiped and replaced and now needs a hard shove to close but does not leak. A teenage friend damaged the sun roof which now leaks when taken through the automatic car wash, due to the water’s force. Two hubcaps just went missing on the passenger side (see photos). I’ve identified one shallow scrape (as pictured) on the front driver’s side; realistically speaking, the car needs a new paint job. Interior: Excellent for its age, with fading in areas where sun hits hardest. Two of the speakers are missing covers; I have one but have not attempted to replace it. The cover to the battery compartment is also missing. See photos for other interior issues, such as a missing frame around the lever of the rear back door. My daughter replaced the original sound system with a JVC Receiver KD-S6350 and speakers. Lovely sound! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
