Vehicle Detail
1971 OLDS 88 Royale 2dr Hardtop (my Extra Large 442 Custom)Moderate Customthis is a rare to find body style 1st-- the Paint and Body, this car came from Western Dry Climate and has if not the best, one of the best straight bodies you will ever findthe body is original except for the hood's custom work... IT WILL PASS the magnet test... Over $10,000 was spent on stripping the paintto the bare metal, prepping, painting and rubbing out the finish.the hood is the original and it had 442 style scoops fabricated in to scale, from a distance you think a 442 is coming at you. There are no visible flaws in this paint job, it is a supreme quality. The paint is a tri-stage late model Ford Motor Color. In the sunlight asI tried to show in pictures it will vary from Metallic Lime to a Darker Green to almost a gold tint. It is not a radical color swing like some, likeI say this is a Ford Factory Color, primarily used on Mustangs. The Vinyl Top is relatively new and in great condition. The tail light lens have been modified with old school Olds 88 emblemsThe grill has been painted to give the front end the 442 look. 2nd- the chrome and stainless is all very good to excellent. No picks here.. 3rd- Wheels and tires they are New and are 17 inch retro style polished alloys, with a good quality radial tire, maybe 500 miles on tires at most. 4th- Exhaust-- new custom dual exhaust with flow master style mufflers and chromed rectangular exhaust tips 5th- Engine - this is the original engine to the car, it has 33,000 miles and to my knowledge is correct and has never had any internal work nor needed it. it starts easily, idles perfectly, and has a rumble and sound of a big block with this exhaust system. NO INTERNAL MODS!! - the motor compartment with the exception of actually pulling the engine was disassembled and professionally detailed. The valve covers and air cleaner, for example, were sandblasted primered, and painted in the correct OLDS GOLD engine paint. 6th- Trans & Rearend- they are also original to this car and operate as they should. Smooth shifting, no leaks, etc. 7th- A/C- new compressor and complete system evac and service in the spring of 2014 8th- Brakes- new Master cylinder and service in the spring of 2014 9th- Glass- excellent the windows do have aftermarket tinting that is as dark as legal for our state. 30% I believe 10th- WIpers, Lights, Signals, Radio, Switches, Etc. all work as they should 11th- Interior -- the rear seat, dash, door panels, carpet, seat belts, headliner, are all original to the car -- the front buckets are from an 88 Cutlass and along with the armrests on the door panels and the rear seat were professionally reupholstered in Ultra Leather (manmade) White Material The Driver Seat is power, and works the passenger seat also has a power configuration but I have not been able to keep it working. -- the console, so as to be a correct height for the seats, was measured and we located a GM Suv Late Model console that fit it along with the seat backs on the buckets is the original neutral light gray GM color. - Guages WORK - Carpet there is a small wear hole by the emergency brake pedal, floor mats cover this, it is about the size of an oblong half dollar - Trunk detailed and pristine with spare and accessories. 12th- OVERALL you can get in this car and take off for anywhere you want. I finished another person's restoration and made a few changes for my personal likes, I LIKE TO CRUISE, not a HOT ROD, just hit the highway and float... THIS CAR IS THAT TO A T IT rides like a NEW BIG GM CAR OF THE SEVENTIES DID. GAS Consumption isn't great but for weekend Pleasure Trips, it isn't a big deal. I figured on a 100 mile trip to NW Ark recently it got 16mpg. THE PICTURES REALLY DO NOT DO JUSTICE TO THE PAINT AND BODY OF THIS CAR> ANYONE WOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE THISKIND OF QUALITY ON ANY COLLECTABLE CAR> I am selling due to personal problems and the inability to have and maintain an extra car. I would not hesitate to drive this across country. I don't recommend anyone doing that on a 40 year old car right off the bat but since I know and have driven this a lot the last 2.5 years I myselfwould be comfortable. Well over $20,000 has been spent on this car, and that doesn't include the cost of the car to begin with. As an Oldsmobile Nut, I hope someone out there appreciates the Rarity and Qualityof this Car. Bid with Confidence... Thank You
