Vehicle Detail
This is a very rare, very nice, all original 1962 327/300hp, power top, powerglide 1962 Corvette. I purchased this car from the grandson of the original owner. It has been in a heated garage its entire life and only has 90,000 original miles. It has rare colors of Fawn Beige with Red Interior. You almost never see that color combination and in some circles they say they didn't build a '62 in those colors, but here it is. It has had one repaint years ago and the interior is all original. This is an early car (00426) and the seat belts and gauges are all correct. Even the split on the driver's seat could be fixed by a professional. The dash pad is deteriorated and should be replaced. The tach and speedo don't work, but the smaller gauges are working. The blower motor, interior lights, wipers and even the Wonderbar radio all work. The body and frame on this car are near magnificent with no signs of body damage with the exception of a little repair work around the base of the trunk latch, but it doesn't look like from an accident. Even the original trunk mat is nice. The jack handle is there, but the jack is missing. A 7.70 Silvertown spare is in the well. The power top is not working, but all the parts are in place. Of course, the engine is original with matching numbers. The radiator and overflow tank are all original and dated Jul or Aug 1961 The hard top is in great shape with only minor crazing on the rear window. Even the black soft top is good with only a small one inch split. I know some experts say you couldn't order a hardtop with a power top, but the hardtop is absolutely original to this car. All hardtop glass is dated Jun 1961. This car was inspected by a former Bloomington Gold '61/'62 judge and he stated to me the color combination and the hardtop/power top combination were original to this car and quite rare. This car drives like a dream and would be a nice addition to any Corvette Collector's stable. The paint is old with many chips and is lacquer checked and the interior is not perfect, but these only add to the provenance of this magnificent vehicle. Included in the sale are an NOS upper radiator hose, an original rechromed front license plate bracket and plate and most of the ignition shielding. Remember they only made 350 power top cars in 1962 and that was the last year. Car is sold with a transferable registration and dealer bill of sale.
