Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 2002 BMW 530ias. This car does not run due to electrical issues. There are no known mechanical defects in the engine, transmission, HVAC, sunroof, windows, power seats, or anywhere else. The car sat unused for a period, and somehow water got in and puddled on the floor. The brain trust at BMW apparently places a fuse box under the carpet in front of the front passenger seat. My mechanic told me that this fuse box had been flooded, was corroded, and that the wires going into it probably had corrosion creeping under the outer insulation. No, this was not a Hurricane Sandy car. Since I bought it with 38,000 miles on it, I have put brakes and Bilsteins (the good ones) all around. Other than that, the car never had any significant mechanical failures. If you need a good engine, transmission, xenon headlamps, or a whole slew of original parts, then this one is for you. I do have a clear title to it, so you can re-register it if you're skilled enough to tackle the electrical issues. We can put a battery in it to demonstrate that the engine does, indeed, crank over just fine. The car has been covered with a plastic tarp with a proper car cover on top of it since I learned of the leak, so it is not a disgusting swamp inside. I really liked this car, so when it became DOA, I went out and bought another, identical one with only 81k on it. Same color and so on. This past Saturday I was driving it and the hood flew up, destroying the hood and the windshield. This is by way of an explanation for why the hood and the windshield are no longer on this parts car. Please free to call me at 860-319-4393 if you have any questions. I will not respond to text messages that ask me to reply to an email address. If you're not interested enough to place an actual phone call, you're certainly not interested enough to buy this car. Alternatively, please communicate through the ebay system. Scammers, buzz off.
