Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 1961 Lancia Appia Vignale Convertible. I have owned this car for almost 20 years now, and have come to the realization that I am never going to get around to restoring it. I have, over the years slowly collected many of the parts to complete the car, and these all come with the car as a whole package. Some parts are missing, but there is a good network of parts suppliers in the US and over seas for these cars. This car is a rare "coachbuilt" model, with the hand made body built by Vignale carrozzeria of Turin. There were about 1500 of these made from about 1957 to 1962. Styling for the convertible was by the famous designer Michelotti. This car is very unique, has tons of character, and needs a proper restoration. Unfortunately I don't have the time, and must let it go to someone else. The car obviously needs some metal work done. If not apparent from the pictures, there are some dents and areas of rust through. The rocker panels, floors, front fenders, lower portion of the doors, lower portion of trunk flange, and rear valance will need attention. There is also a small pan in below the radiator that will need to be replaced. I will provide a link to larger pictures that will show these areas in better detail. The doors close solidly with a beautifully thin shut line, and the body lines are very straight. There are areas on the passenger side where a previous owner cut away some of the metal and primed the areas. I think these are clearly shown in the pictures. If not apparent from this being listed as a "restoration project", this car does NOT run, but the motor is not seized or freeze cracked. I have never attempted to run it. The car is as I bought it 17 years ago. The shifter is now stuck, but was not when I got the car. Known missing parts are; hubcaps, exhaust system, throttle pedal and linkage that it attaches to, part of the gas line, part of the oil line -to- oil gauge. ALL of these parts are common to the second and third series Appia sedans, and are easily available as used parts. Some are even available new. One piece of the passenger side door inner threshold trim is missing. This may be a more difficult part to find, but I haven't tried. When I bought this car, it did not come with seats or bumpers. I found a set of used bumpers that are in very poor condition, and some new old stock bumper parts. So, there is a complete bumper set, but some pieces are new and some pieces are very bad. The bumpers can also be bought brand new in stainless steel from the Harrington group. I do NOT have a complete set of seats for the car. I found 1, 1/2 seats used in very poor condition. There is an entire driver side seat, but some parts are broken. For the passenger side seat, I only have a seat back. These seats were originally hand made, and are very simple bent tube construction. I was planning to make new ones from these as patterns. I think these would be hard to find used, but it is worth a try Please contact me with any question or to arrange to see the car before the end of the auction if you are close enough. This car is being sold as-is, where-is. I will not provide shipping. The car does not have a title, because New York state doesn't require a title on cars past a certain age. I have a New York State bill of sale from the time I bought the car. I never registered the car, so it does not have a registration. This is a bill of sale only. The paperwork I have is a "New York State Affidavit of Sale, form DTF-802" Here is a link to 80 higher-res photos of the car. http://s1295.photobucket.com/user/grichmondesign/library/?sort=3&page=1
