Vehicle Detail
1967 Pontiac Grand Prix ConvertibleFactory 400 4 Speed 3:42 Posi#'s matching PHS Documented We purchased this vehicle a few years back from a private collector that had the car for many years and have done some restoration work to the car while using it as his summer driver. The car has currently been off the road for several years now but will start, run, move and stop. The car is lot drivable, but will need to be transported after purchase. We can deliver within Ohio or the surrounding states for a reasonable cost or will assist in loading on a carrier of your choice. Most of the 536 400 4 speed Grand Prix's were hardtop versions. I collect Pontiac's and have for several years. This is the 2nd factory 4 speed convertible that I have owned and the most original I have seen for sale in a LONG time that wasn't a restored car. I have talked with several people over the years about haw many 4 speed GP convertibles were made. No one has ever had a actual # to give me, but several sources including including other 4 speed GP convertible owners and avid Pontiac Historians estimate somewhere around 100 were built.... making this a rather rare collector Pontiac. I will attempt to tell you as much as I can about this vehicle and will gladly answer any of your questions. I can try to provide additional photos if needed. I understand that this car will need a complete and total restoration. I am a retailer for many of the restoration parts that are available for this vehicle including the weatherstripping, interior, carpet, wiring, etc.... I will gladly wholesale any of the parts that I have access to at my COST! I have set the reserve low enough for someone to get a cool car at a reasonable price so that they can restore it as they want. Basically I priced the car at 1/2 of what a 4 speed change over, 3:42 Posi rear, 67 400 engine, set of 67 buckets and 4 speed console would be worth. I have no intention of parting the car, but I also have to be realistic and not GIVE the car away. I truly hope that someone will take the time to restore it! Engine/Trans/Rear:67 Pontiac 400 XZ Code 4 speed engine for a fullsize car. - There were only 536 of these engines produced by Pontiac!Trans is a Muncie 4 speed (long tail housing) with the correct Hurst 4 Spd shifterRear is a 3:42 Posi that was usually only in 4 speed cars or as a special order ratioPlease Note: that the engine in the car in the photos is no longer in the car and has been replaced with the original one. Sorry, I thought I had photos at the time I wrote this. I can send you photos or engine details (codes, dates, etc....) if needed. Exterior: There is a fair amount of rust on the left hand side of the car. Mainly in the quarter panel. There is a new repair panel for the driver side quarter that is included. There is some rust in the A and B pilliar where it meets the rocker panel. It appears that the passenger side has had some rust repair done by the previous owner. Trunk lid has some rust Trunk floor has a large sheet metal repair laid down over top, but looking from the bottom side it may be repairable? The floor pans look to have decent floor braces, but the pan areas will need some work. The frame on the car is SOLID. I saw no holes or heavy flaking. We picked around on the frame to insure there were no hidden "soft" spots. Convertible top frame is there and seems solid and complete Interior: Bucket seat frames are solidRear seat frames seem pretty good. All the soft parts will need replaced. However the dash pad is NICE. Car is equipped with a console and factory gaugesFactory AM radio is still in the dash. So overall all this car needs a lot of work and is not for everyone. I hope that someone out there is able and willing to put the time and effort into this car to make it what it deserves to be. Please feel free to call at 614-563-0877 to discuss any details that you need after you have read the entire listing. Please no calls after 10pm EST, that is 7pm left coast time.
