The 356 was a 4-cylinder, air-cooled, rear-engine, rear wheel drive car utilizing unitized pan and body construction. While the 356’s body was an original design by Porsche, its mechanicals including engine, suspension and chassis were derived from the Volkwagen. The first 356 used many Volkswagen parts for manufacturing economy. Today, the Porsche 356 is a highly-regarded collector car. With its low, raked windshield, bucket seats and minimal folding top, the Speedster was a great success. The demand for this timeless classic car is such that several manufacturers offer near dimensionally accurate replicas, often based on modified VW chassis of the earlier era.The best manufacturers of these recreations are Vintage Speedsters of Southern California and Intermeccanica of Vancouver. I am selling my pristine Triple-black Vintage Speedster 1957 Porsche 356 recreation that has been meticulously cared for by me and its previous owners. I have had the car for 3 years and have enjoyed owning it and driving it. The car is fun, easy to drive and gets attention from everyone who sees it. I have maintained the car with basic, preventive maintenance, auto detailing and have not had one issue with it. I was told that all of these cars leak oil, yet I have barely a few drops on my garage floor – after 3 years. This is the perfect car for someone who wants the classic car experience without the classic car price and the costs to maintain. Also, this car starts on command, every time. You will not have to worry about a Sunday morning drive ruined because your classic car won’t start. According to the previous owner, the car was built by Vintage Speedsters in 2004 and is built on a 1968 VW chassis. The car currently has 17k miles on the odometer and is excellent condition.
