Vehicle Detail
Please read entire ad, including watching videos and looking at all the pictures, before asking questions. I try to do my best to show the car exactly how it is and I posted a lot of pictures and videos and description so you can see if this is the car for you. The van is in nice shape and runs great. Check out my full description below with 90+ pics in html form and 3 videos. If you have any questions let me know. This is a very rare van. The Nissan Van was sold in the US from 1987-1990. They had a few recalls and then they eventually bought them all back and crushed them, around 33,000 of them. At first Nissan was offering recalls and repairs to fix the problems. This van had the cooling system repair done. At a certain point they stopped offering the repairs and bought them back for more than Blue Book value or gave a good deal on a new Nissan. Very few people kept the vans and traded them back for cash or another Nissan. This one was lucky enough to have had the recall done before they stopped offering it and also to have an owner who wanted to keep it. It was brought into the US market by Nissan to rival Toyota and Mitsubishi. It pretty much looks exactly like the Toyota Van but with a few different features. It has a bigger motor, dual air conditioning and an ice maker / drink warmer. Before the cooling system upgrade, the vans were catching fire because The motor was too big for the space it was in. The body style is fine, as they use it all over the world and is pretty much the same as the toyota. The engine is fine, as they use it in all sorts of nissans and nissans are very reliable. The problem was the 2 of them didn't go together as well as Nissan thought they would at first and some caught fire, leading to the recall, then leading to them all being bought back and crushed by Nissan. Since this van has had the recall, and it is still here in the year 2014 with over 202K on the dash and it has never been on fire , Id say it has been fixed with the cooling system recall repair it had done. It was more costly for Nissan to perform this fix on the vans then it was for them to buy them back and crush them. If you search the internet for pictures you barely find any and most likely mine is one of them, so you can see how rare they are. One also sold a few months ago on ebay for $7500. It was the first one I had seen for sale in a while. If you are more interested in information on these vans you can search online, or if you have any questions let me know. Now lets get to my van. 1987 Nissan Vanette Van XE. 202K + miles (speedometer cable is broken or disconnected). It was like this when I got it. It runs great and starts right up. Automatic transmission with overdrive shifts great no problems. No leaks. Brakes stop good and dont make noise. In one of the videos the light was on but it just needed a little fluid, now the light is off and everything is good. The steering and suspension is good. The tires are ok, they hold air and have some grip still, they are not the best, not the worst, ok condition. The rims are stock and in good condition. Has spare tire as well. All the lights work. The body and paint is in good condition overall. The paint is original and looks good for being 27 years old. It has some fade on the roof. It has some little dings around the body but nothing serious. No rust as it is a California Van. Check out the videos and pictures to see it, I will point out all the little dings on it. Everything is very minor and it is in great shape and very rare. The right tail light has a small hole in it. There is a little dent on the back hatch left side and a little ding on the right side. There are 2 small dings on the left quarter panel back near hatch. There is a small ding in the middle of the left quarter panel. There are some small dings under the left side quarter panel. There are some small dings on the left side from the antenna. Windshield has cracks in it (see pics). The front has some rock chips and small dings. The passenger side mirror is a little loose and could use some repair. The passenger sliding door has a little damage around the back of it and on the passenger rear wheel well. Door opens and closes fine. The back inner wheel well of the driver side front has a little damage to it. It had a tire blow out and that is what caused the damage to the driver side front behind the wheel. Behind the wheel well are a couple lines for the rear A/C and one of those lines was broken. This is why the AC doesn't blow cold. Overall the body damage on this van is very minor (see pics and video). The interior of this car is original and decent condition. It is complete except for one of the back seats is missing. The carpet has been vacuumed but has some stains from over the years. It still has good material and could be cleaned to look better, as well as the seats probably. The drivers seat has a small tear in it on the bottom corner. The driver seat belt has a little wear on it. The dash has some cracks on it. The back seat reclines all the way back. It has dual air conditioning and an ice maker and all the components are there. One of the rear AC lines was damaged when the front tire had a blow out in the past. Also the connection to power the rear AC was disconnected so the rear AC controls dont power on currently. If you fix the line and recharge the AC system everything should work and be cold again. It takes R12. You can find R12 on ebay if you want to put that back in it or you can put 134A in it. Everything else works. The radio works but only the driver side door speaker is hooked up right now. I havent looked into it yet, but everything works. It will have a clean title when issued. I currently have California Lien Sale paper work for it only. I bought it a few months ago from a city impound auction here in California. To get the title in California, it needs to be smogged and registered. It has not been registered since 2011. It owes approx. $630 in back fees to California. If you are buying this and keeping it in California, you will have to pay the fees and get it smogged to get the title, unless you let it sit a few more years until it is no longer in DMV computer or if you use a titling service to get the title. Also, if in California, if you are good at talking to people, a strategy I have used is to tell them that I got the car for cheap from an auction and the fees are way too high and not mine and I cant afford to pay the fees and if they dont give me a discount I explain to them that I am going to junk the car and that they will never see a dime of the fees it owes or future registration. Usually they realize that they can either get a little amount of money for the car and still collect on it yearly or never get money for it again. They usually get their manager and cut the fees in half. If you are from another state or country you dont have to pay the California fees or smog, but each state deals with Lien Sale papers differently. Some states take them no problem, other states can be more challenging. You should talk to your DMV about this if you are concerned. For anyone, California or other states, there are titling companies. They send the paper work through less restrictive states and basically you end up with the title after you pay them like $150 for and pay dmv whatever normal registration costs are and you get the title. All of these are options. Everything is legal. I have dealt with a lot of Lien Sale cars before so dont let it scare you. Especially not for a van this rare. Its possible to get the title no matter where you are. I am selling it as is with lien sale paper work from auction but can help assist the buyer with information on how to get the title if needed =) . Overall this is a great van. It runs, drives and looks great. If I think of anything else I will add it. If you have any questions let me know. Check out the video and pictures to see the car for yourself. You can make the videos bigger by clicking on the title and watching it on my YT channel. I have put a lot of pictures in html form, so if you are looking from a phone you might need to look from a computer to see all of them. Van is sold as is, as described. Please read all the information, look at pics, watch videos and ask questions if you have any and I will be happy to answer them. One of these vans sold for $7500 a couple months ago on ebay. I havent seen any other ones for sale. I am going to start the auction for this one at $2500 with no reserve. Highest bidder takes it. If you have been looking for one of these here is a nice one. I reserve the right to end the auction and sell it at anytime but I do plan on letting the auction run the full 7 days, so if you are interested put a bid in or let me know. Non refundable deposit of $200 due through Paypal within 24 hours of auctions end. Car should be paid for within 10 days of auction end. Car needs to be picked up within 3 weeks of auctions end. If any of these are a problem for you and you are serious about bidding / buying please contact me. If you are going to have the car shipped I can assist in meeting the shipper / truck when they get close to my house. I have sold cars on ebay before and everything has always gone smooth. Check my feedback. If you have any questions let me know. Serious only please =) Thanks and good luck. interior
