Vehicle Detail

1951 Chevrolet 3800 1-ton panel delivery vehicle. This wagon was bought new in Adel, GA, used as a flower delivery vehicle “New’s Flower Shop” for several years and then parked. I rescued it from a farmhouse a few years ago close to my home, about 10 miles from Adel. It is unmolested and runs good! I went through the entire drive line. Pulled the engine (216) and went completely through it, including complete head/valve job. Had the transmission inspected, cleaned, and new seals. Fuel cell was cleaned and new lines/sending unit installed. New fuel pump, coil, distributor, plugs, wires, seals, etc…Radiator cleaned and pressure tested. Converted from 6v to 12v. Cleaned and inspected the rear end, pulled the drive shaft and installed all new u-joints. I also went through all the brakes. The original wheels, caps, and tires (including spare) are all still with the vehicle, although, I have installed modern wheels and tires for added safety on the road. Currently, it has functional brake lights, gauges (fuel, amp, temp, oil pressure, mph), and horn. Headlights are not wired nor are blinkers. New signal stat device installed, but it isn’t connected at this time. The wood floor in the rear is very solid. The entire roof of the vehicle is in very good condition, so is the hood. All the glass is there, and the door windows do roll up and down. The vent windows work as well. This truck does have rust along the bottom rear of the fenders, parts of the running boards, and some along the bottom of the sides between the rear fender and door. There is some rust on the lower valance under the rear doors and some around the transmission cover. Overall, this truck is very solid. She runs smooth, idles well, holds good oil pressure and drives like you would expect a 63 year old 1 ton should drive. The transmission is a 4 speed on the floor, (sm420). I have no idea how the rear end is geared, but I can tell you that it is very low, 40-45mph and she is wound up pretty good. There isn’t much paint left to speak of; I spoke with an elderly gentleman a few months ago that actually worked for the flower shop in the 50’s and drove this vehicle as a delivery clerk. He said it was black or dark blue when he drove it. All questions and inspections are welcomed. Please note, this vehicle is a good deal longer than the ½ ton vehicles of the same year model. I have all receipts. I do not have a title, bill of sale only. No warranties. This could make a great restoration or rat rod. I drive it a few times a month and people like it. There is room in the back for the whole congregation. Bid with confidence, I have not and would not knowingly hide anything about the condition.
