You are bidding on a 2000 Volkswagon Passat with a 4 cyl. 1.8 litre turbo engine. This vehicle was until recently owned by a mother with two kids and was in sound mechanical condition. Recently the engine started running hot and it was looked into. The coolant system was flushed, the thermostat was changed but the problem persists. The engine had previously been drained and flushed of the G12 coolant and regular coolant has been used and have had no issues till recently. So still having cooling issues. Mechanic says there is a possibility of a blown head gasket but due to owning another vehicle was not willing to sink the money into the repair. There is NO coolant leaking into the crankcase. Oil is clean and does not appear to be coolant coming out of the exhaust. The engine will crank and runs smooth it just runs hot. It is drivable but only for a short distance. Transmission is in great shape and the AC is ICE COLD. There are other cosmetic interior issues that would need attention. Below is a list of items that may need attention: All driver and passenger windows have issues rolling up or down. Driver and passenger front seats the fabric has separated. (See Photos) Rear seat in decent condition (They are leather) The following are positive aspects of the vehicle: The Air Conditioning is ice cold. Transmission shifts smoothly Exterior of the vehicle is in great condition. No collision damage. Just minor cosmetic issues like possible door dings or scratches. Before bidding, be sure you understand that this vehicle will run hot if driven, and that the possibility exists of having to replace the head gasket.
