Vehicle Detail
1949 Desoto Station Wagon. I've owned this car for approx. 5 years. I bought it from a friend who owned it for 22 + years and put less than 100 miles on the car. The car has been stored inside for all of those years. Looking at the condition of the Wagon I would say it has been stored inside all of its life. When I bought it I did the brake system with new wheel cylinders and master cylinder but never drove the car. I don't believe the car has ever been apart and has it's original paint (65 years old), the hood may have been repainted many years ago. The chrome is showing its age as it is original. It looks like the original interior and headliner. The wood is in nice shape. It has three rows of seats with the second row missing the fold forward section of the seat. ( I've never seen another 1949 Desoto Wagon so am not sure about the configuration of the second seat).)The Wagon runs and yard drives fine but would want to check the brakes out before taking it on the road as it has been sitting for 5 years since brakes were done.. There is one piece of cracked glass on the passenger side rear door, and the rubber mat that covers the front floor is gone. I believe this car has never been out of California and shows only surface rust. Someone in the past has put wood grained type shelf paper over the original mahogany insert panels. I would strongly suggest coming to look at the car before bidding or have a representative look at the car so there are no surprises. Hopefully the pictures will answer a lot of questions. I read somewhere that there are only 9 of these Desoto Wagons known to exist?? I believe this to be an original mileage car. Car title is in my name and registration is on a California Non - Op. Vehicle is sold "AS - IS" with NO warranties expressed or implied. This is a 65 year old car. This is a no reserve auction. Thanks 10/10/2014 After an inspection the following was found.E-brake handle does not hold all the time, may be the ratchet (Pawl) mechanism.Head lights and tail lights and wipers work.Brake lights don't work. Maybe the switch?Passenger front door handle needs to be held in approx.1/4 inch to open door. Just an old car..On Oct-11-14 at 09:30:24 PDT, seller added the following information: 10/11/2014 Wagon is running with an electric fuel pump
