Vehicle Detail

1925 Dodge Brothers Roadster This car is the ‘poster child’ for vintage patina, originality, and Barn Find Glory! It even still carries its original barn dust! Its ready to show, and drive, and enjoy NOW! It’s one of the very last truly original Dodge Brothers roadsters in existence. This car has not been repainted or rebuilt in any way...it’s only been properly maintained as required. Nothing has been drilled, cut, modified, or butchered. Get in, start the motor, and go. It runs, drives, and stops great. Yes, it's ready to drive and enjoy right now. I know what you're thinking, but it's true. The car has been completely sorted out…no surprises. I've driven the car for about seven years now and I can truly say that this is one of the most reliable vintage cars that I've ever owned. Everything works. In June 2014 this car was featured in Old Cars Weekly and the article was printed in the magazine and published on line. You can find the article on line under 'Car Of The Week'. The article tells the story of how I found the car, and it includes several photos. The Dodge has correct 1925 license plates that go with the car, if desired. The plates were installed about seven years ago and the car is registered with these plates with the California DMV. Annual registration is up to date. Title is clear and in my name. The Car Has The Following Period Correct Accessories1)Stromberg OD-1 performance/economy carburetor, with Grose-Jet float valve modification. This is a far superior carb compared to the OEM Stewart carb. The original Stewart carb will also be provided with the car.2)Boyco running board can set (gas, oil, water).3)Spot-Lite by S.&M. Mfg. Co. of Los Angeles.4)Factory right hand taillight. 5)Wind Wings, Eas-A-Just, Sunset Accessory Co., Los Angeles CA.6)Nev-A-Lost gas cap, dog bone style.7)Running Board Step Plates8)J&J Auto Accident Kit, unused9)Arro-Meter radiator temperature gauge.10)AAA Club of Southern California porcelain radiator badge.11)Outside left-hand rear view mirror, faucet handle type. Some Notes About The Condition Of The Cara)There are various dings, scratches, paint fading, and general wear consistent with a 90 year old car.b)The car has some wear at the king pins, but it drives fine as is. I have a set of NOS king pins and bushings that I will provide with the car.c)There is a minor leak at the radiator core. The leak is very slow and it only drips a little when the coolant is hot.d)The multi-disk clutch facings stick sometimes and it can make down shifts more difficult.e)Due to dirty contacts, the ignition switch has been temporarily by-passed, however, it still works fine. f)The fuel vacuum tank has also been temporarily by-passed and a low pressure electric fuel pump has been installed. The electric system is a very nice setup, but there is no reason the vacuum tank won’t work…I just haven’t been able to get around to changing it over yet. g)The seat was authentically reupholstered by the previous owner.h)The top fabric has mostly deteriorated and is off the car now; the bows are currently covered with a boot.i)The running boards were replaced at some point in the past. I have correct factory running boards in good condition that I can provide with the car. I have new linoleum as well.Sorry about the weird formating above. Things that should be so simple, are made so difficault, for so many, by so few. A Very Brief History Of the Dodge BrothersThe two Dodge brothers, John and Horace, became famous when they produced parts for Henry Ford when he first introduced the Model T in 1908 / 1909. Disagreements on how to build cars and parts quickly arose between the Dodge brothers and Henry, so by 1914 the brothers had sold their stake in the Ford Motor Car Company and started their own car company. Since the brothers were well known by this time, their cars were in high demand and had a long waiting list before the first DB car even rolled off the assembly line. The Dodge Brothers car was famous for its reliability...even General George Pershing used a caravan of DB’s in 1916 / 1917 to pursue Poncho Villa in the desert. Interestingly, the Dodge Brothers radiator badge shows two separate triangles (one blue, and one white) interlocked with each other. The triangle is a Mason symbol for a 'strong individual', and two triangles locked together is a symbol for two strong individuals working closely together, and yes, the brothers were Masons. Oddly enough, the brothers died within months of each other and company was sold in 1925 making their widows the richest women in the world. Walter Chrysler purchased DB in 1927 / 1928 and spent the next 12 years phasing out the popular 'Brothers' from the Dodge name. More StuffI have many extra parts and original books available for this car.Feel free to contact me for additional photos or information. PaymentSorry, due to scams I can't take Cashiers Checks or Money Orders. Cash is fine, but the cash will be professionally inspected for authenticity. Personal checks are fine, but must completely clear my bank before the vehicle and title can be transfered. ShippingThe buyer should arrange shipping if needed. I'll help from my end to make sure it gets done, and done right. History With PridePlease remember, a car is original only once.Made in USA...because it matters!
