Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1985 Jaguar Vaden Plas. This has been professionally converted to a 350 Chevy engine with a 700 r4 transmission with overdrive kit. The engine is a crate motor from Summit Racing (Manufacturer's Part Number: 10067353). It has exactly 277 miles on it (I set the tripomitor to zero when it was installed). Here are the stats on the motor, as provided by Summit: "These are excellent entry-level performance engines for older cars, trucks, and street rods. All of the parts in these engines are brand new. These Chevrolet Performance Goodwrench 5.7L/350 c.i.d. engines have approximately 8.5:1 compression with a base horsepower rating of 195 hp and capable of up to 260 hp depending on intake and injection setup. These crate engines have a 4.00 in. bore and a 3.48 in. stroke with 4-bolt mains and 2-piece rear main seals. Camshaft specifications are .383 in. intake lift and .401 in. exhaust lift. The open duration is 194 degrees intake and 202 degrees exhaust at .050 in. with a 112 degree lobe separation. The cylinder heads are cast iron with 1.94 in. intake valves and 1.50 in. exhaust valves, 76cc combustion chambers, and 7-bolt style exhaust flanges. These engines include painted valve covers, oil pans, and timing covers. They are drilled for both left hand and right hand dipsticks." The transmission is a new rebuild from Angelo Transmissions in Erie, Pa. It was put in with the motor and also has 277 miles on it. It has a brand new battery and brand new alternator. The motor has an aluminum intake and 4 barrel Holly carburetor. This was not a backyard mechanic conversion. It was done with a Chevy conversion kit from a company in Florida that specializes in these conversions. The engine runs fantastic and is not even broken in. I bought this in 2012. Six months after I bought it the motor in it went. The conversion was just completed. I have at least $3000 invested in the motor, transmission and related components. This vehicle does have the catelletic converter setup required for emissions in Pennsylvania. The body on this car is beautiful. It was originally a Florida vehicle and has been garage kept for the majority of its live. The paint is good but is showing its age, mainly on the roof (see photos). The interior has wear expected for a car of this age. It has a wood grain dash, a Sony cd player with remote and a $1,000 Nardi Torino steering wheel. The car has two gas tanks. Currently only the passenger side tank is in use as the drivers side one has a slow leak. I was going to put a new on in but never got around to it. Regardless, this does not prohibit driving it as the other tank works fine. The brakes and tires were new in 2012 (I only drove it a few months after I bought it that yeat) so they should be fine. The vehicle has no issues stopping and the pedal feels fine. I have driven it recently (ie the 277 miles put on the news motor and had no issues with the brakes or anything. There are no exhaust leaks. There are 4 extra jaguar spoked wheels that go with the car. The hood does need adjusted to shut properly. It does shut but is slightly off. It was removed for the engine swap and simply needs adjusted at the mounts. The hood opens backwards on these and I have never messed with that style so I have not played with it. It has tinted windows. I have simply too many other projects (I am converting a Jaguar XJS right now) and need the money to complete that. You are welcome to come see this vehicle in person, so message me for information on setting that up. I don't sell vehicles on eBay so I hope I have not forgot anything. If I did, just message me and ask.
