Vehicle Detail

1972 Mercedes 300SEL 4.5.  An Oregon car for many years, this Mercedes is very solid with no rust issues anywhere.  The car looks very sharp, not quite show quality but close.   I have over 60 photos below, look for my text descriptions that accompany the photos, Ill describe the good and the bad.  No accident history, clean and clear Oregon title.  This car is selling at  No Reserve.  Please ask questions before bidding and be ready to buy if you're the high bidder, let's no waste either one's time.  $500 deposit via paypal within 24hrs and balance due within one week.  I can help with shipping arrangements.   Thanks for looking, email with any questions. Very nice repaint in the original color of Gray Blue Metallic, code 906.  Good prep with no overspray, but now showing some age related chips up front and a few dings scattered about.  Its biggest flaw is some pimpling here and there, mainly on the trunk lid.  Overall the paint shows good gloss and depth in spite of the flaws. Good grill, lights and bumpers, all of the chrome and anodized trim on the car is in very good condition. Touched up scrape above the passenger side front wheel.  All 4 tires are new with about 30 miles on them. The pimpling on the trunk is really hard to see in direct sunlight, these next 2 photos under overcast skies show it better. The electric sunroof works perfectly and is watertight. The windshield is original and shows some light road wear.  All of the other glass is original and in very good shape.  In these photos you can see that the varnish on each corner of the dash wood has faded, the veneer is still good. Very original interior with the exception of the aftermarket radio.  Front seats need recovering. All 4 door panels and wood are in very nice condtion.  Power windows all work great. All gauges are operating except for the clock.  Heater levers move freely, fan works.  Wipers, lights, etc are all working.  Horn works but only if pressed on the right side of the horn ring.  Electric antenna is stuck in the up position.  Electric sunroof operates perfectly. A/C fan operates but the compressor belt has been removed, some work will be needed to get that operational. The big V8 starts easily and runs very strongly with no smoke.  The car cruises on the open road with power to spare.  Somewhat rough idle when cold, smooths out considerably at operating temperature.  The transmission shifts perfectly.  The car holds the road well with a good suspension and tight steering.  Brakes feel weak to me and I've seen the brake warning light flicker at times even though the fluid is topped off.  Plan on looking into this. The front end has been converted to springs, the rear is still on air.  It stays up for months and operates correctly from the switch. Very solid undercarriage and sills.  The car has a full stainless steel exhaust.  Since the time these photos were taken (2 weeks ago) new tires have been mounted. So all in all a very solid example in good but not perfect condition, ready to be taken to the next level or just enjoyed as it is.
