Clear Title No Rust, 24mpg HWY Historic – cheap registration and insurance! Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1994 Mercedes C280 with only 98k miles on the odometer. This car is in decent condition for its age, with a clear title and no rust. It is also 20 years old, and eligible for cheap, historic registration and insurance. The 2.8L straight 6 engine is powerful and smooth, and makes this a fast little car, with plenty of passing power. It does not smoke or overheat. The automatic transmission shifts up and down through the gears normally without any slipping or hard shifts. The brakes are strong and the suspension is firm. This is a great running and comfortable car for highway driving, but its small size also makes it a good city car. The exterior paint looks good from a few feet away, but up close it does have some dings and scrapes typical for a car of this age. There is no sign of any serious accident damage. Also up close, the white paint looks dull, but I’m certain that a proper wax job and some buffing would make it shine again. The alloy wheels are in good shape for the age, but could use a good cleaning inside the slots. The tires are BFGoodrich Advantage T/As and all have good tread on them. The hood ornament is missing, and the radio antenna has been removed and is in the trunk. The interior of the car is average for the age. The leather seats are in good shape, without any tears or fading, and they are very comfortable. The dash is in good shape, with no cracks. The door panels are clean. The carpets are good, but have some staining, especially in the back, so they could use a good shampooing to clean them up. There are driver and passenger airbags. The factory 1st Aid Kit is present. There are power mirrors, locks, sunroof, and windows. The wipers work but need new refills. The lights and gauges on the dash all work. The SRS light on the dash stays on when you start the car up, but goes out after a few minutes of driving. The heater works, but the A/C blows warm air. The radio comes on, but there is no sound (possibly no reception since the antenna is disconnected). There is also a Sony 10-CD changer in the trunk. The main problem with the interior (and the car in general) is that there is a mild leak around the sunroof and this has caused the headliner to go bad and emit a faint mildew smell. The seals around the sunroof need to be replaced, and then the headliner needs to be replaced. It’s not a major job, and would make a huge difference to the car. This would make a really nice, comfortable, reliable car for someone willing to give it a little TLC. It’s very uncommon to find one of these with only 98k miles, with no rust and in good mechanical condition. The only mechanical issues I’ve noticed are that sometimes when I start the car it fires right up, and other times it takes 2 – 3 seconds of cranking to start. I have read that this may be a problem with the fuel pressure regulator or the MAF. Once started the engine runs smoothly without any misses or hunting idle. I have also noticed an occasional, light thumping noise from the rear passenger’s side wheel well. It only happens when accelerating from a stop, and mainly when making a left turn. I have pulled on all the wheels to check the bearings, and they seem OK, as well as looked at the mounts and bushings of the right rear suspension, all of which look alright. I have read that it is common to hear a thump if the sway bar bushings need replacing, or if the sway bar end-links need to be adjusted, so I assume that is the cause of the occasional noise. Other than getting these checked out, replace the sunroof seals, replace the headliner, and get a professional detailer to shampoo the carpets and do a wax job, and you’ll have 98k mile Mercedes that looks almost new and is eligible for cheap, historic insurance and tags. I am selling this car on behalf of my father because he does not use the internet. This car is owned by his small, used car dealership. Since this car is owned by a dealership, the buyer has the option of getting a 2-month temp tag, so that he or she can legally drive the car home. PLEASE READ: This car is 20 years old, so it will be sold as a historic vehicle. Payment is to be made in cash. Paypal and Bank Transfers are not cash, cash is physical, paper money. If you are a long-distance buyer, you must either show up in person to deliver the cash payment and sign / collect the titlework, or you must send a person that can do those things on your behalf. Buyer must present a valid driver’s license at the time of pick-up. A $100 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction's end. This can be paid through Paypal. The remainder is to be paid in cash at the time of pick-up. Bidders with zero or negative feedback must contact me prior to bidding – I will delete your bids otherwise. Do not send me angry emails when you bid without contacting me, and then find that I have deleted your bids and blocked you from further bidding on the auction. This car is sold AS IS, with NO WARRANTY. Please examine the supersized photos, and contact me if you have any questions. Serious bidders are welcome to come see the car, just give me notice ahead of time so I can adjust my schedule. Since this car is being sold by a dealership, if on arrival for pick-up the buyer has a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, a 2-month temp. tag can be supplied at an additional cost of $35. ***If the winning bidder is a Maryland resident, they must pay a 6% sales tax on the final bid, and a $100 title processing fee. Payment is to be made in CASH at pick-up. Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The car must be picked up within 1 week of the end of the auction.
