1981 SUZUKI GS1100EX FOR SALE- $2000.00. NEAR-MINT CONDITION! CLEAR TITLE! Original owners' manual included never opened! 18,000 Original miles- REBUILT in 1990 with only 5000 miles on Vance and Hines Racing Motor. Frame up restoration done in 1990 only to keep up with the newer bikes coming out. I have been an ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician for over 20 years. Here is a complete list of what I did. I have all the receipts as well. STEP 1- Complete teardown in the winter of 1990.Every single nut, bolt screw and electrical component was on my workbench.Polaroid photos during the restoration will be included. STEP 2- Sent frame to my friends' Body Shop.Sandblasted frame to bare metal, sanded bare metal, welded a bracket on left side of frame for a steering stabilzer mount and primed with an acid-based metal-etching primer after a phosphate bath. This was the best method for powder-coating in 1990. All paint and prep products were manufactured by DUPONT. Step 3-HONDA Granada Black Pearl DUPONT paint was used for the frame.Custom paint was used on the entire bike thereafter. The bike was originally black and still appears so with one exception: It now appears black with Deep Purple specks deep inside the paint base in sunlight. It was clear-coated 7 times as well. All new original color OEM pinstripes were installed on bike perfectly in original positions.New OEM emblems were also installed.New OEM bearings and bushings were installed.New Progressive Suspension rear shocks.Removed plastic coating from every aluminum part on the bike and polished them to a near chrome finish.Installed new front rim, bearings and seals due to a front tire blowout.Installed 2 new Dunlop K591 Elite tires.Balance Plus was added before airing up the tires.Installed new front and rear sprockets and endless drive chain- Stock OEM gear ratio.New OEM front shock assemblies, equalizer tube and triple clamps were also installed.Installed a new TAROZZI (P/N T24-0016) fork brace from Precision Performance Motorcycle Parts in Australia.Replaced all rubber brake lines/hoses with steel braided DOT4 brake lines/hoses/fluid.Rebuilt both Master Cylinders- front and rear.Installed 2 new front discs and Raybestos Racing brake pads front and rear.Installed K&N Superbike bars.Installed TRACY smoked/purple fairing. Some small sun damaged cluster lines in gauges lens. New replacement lens comes with bike.Reinforced/cleaned and installed dilectric grease to entire electrical wire harness connections.Installed new aftermarket low profile GPX mirrors. All new OEM footpegs and shifter.Installed new OEM fuse panel.HID headlamp lights up the road like daytime!Installed new TRAVELCADE seat cover with power stapler.New OEM chrome seat bar pillion.Removed and discarded entire OEM airbox assembly.Rebuilt carburetors and installed a K&N Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit with individual K&N pod air filters. Synced carbs with mercury gauges. Also changed pilot jets.Installed all new OEM throttle cables.Installed a NEW KERKER KE3215 4 into 1 Competition Header (no longer available) with a Two Brothers Stainless Steel Wool Muffler Repack Kit. Sounds awesome!Removed and discarded center stand.Sorry but it was dangerous!Using W27ESU Spark Plugs - Denso - the CHAMPION SPLITFIRE spark plugs were great but are no longer available. Comes with LIBERTY radar detector installed under headlamp, switch on handlebar with light and audio (approximately 2" wide and an inch high and deep).New battery sensor was installed but battery needs replacement.New OEM gas cap.Gas tank is KREEMed so it won't rust inside and get into carbs.New gas tank petcock was installed afterward but it is now leaking. STEP 4- The Engine! From the bottom up it has: ALL machine work was done by a Vance and Hines Racing Shop in California which is now located in Indiana.ALL Racing Vance and Hines engine parts were used.A welded, balanced crankshaft with rods. They were known for twisting because the rods were pressed together during stock manufacturing. Now it is bulletproof!A welded, balanced and billeted clutch basket with BARNETT RACING extra plate clutch and heavy duty pressure plate and springs. You won't blow your clutch, EVER!Cylinder block was honed and checked for issues before reassembly.New racing piston rings and heavy duty wrist pins, bearings and circlips.Heavy duty transmission shaft spring for positive shifts.Cylinder head was milled as much as possible to increase compression without replacing pistons.Racing head gasket installed ( I believe it is copper).Installed Racing Modified cams with roller rockers. I ordered Street Race cams and they sent me ones that are illegal for Road Racing competition! (VHR Modified Grind 168 part no. 12042-They kick in at 6000RPMs like a nitrous boost!Adjustable V&H cam sprockets. Both cams were degreed in with a degree wheel and piston stop.Perfect.Heavy duty cam chain with manual adjustable billet tensioner and guide.5 angle valve job with dual valve springs and titanium keepers.Racing valve stem seals.Ported, but not polished, exhaust and intake ports.I polished all ports with a dremel tool when I got the parts back from V&H myself.Installed oil restrictors as recommended by V&H.Installed Hi-volume oil pump gears with oil pressure gauge.Installed a LOCKHART-PHILLIPS oil cooler with thermostat and braided oil lines.Engine was reassembled entirely with chrome Allen bolts.(The carbs have them too).Engine was broken in with CASTROL GTX 10W-40 and retorqued, timed and retested. I had the carbs off at least 12 times to get it right for both driveability and performance...that's why I changed the pilot jets to 47.5's when K&N said not to.(Major flaw in their directions).SUZUKI full-synthetic motor oil and K&N/FRAM and VESRA oil filters were used and changed every season.THE ENGINE ALONE IS WORTH $4500.00 IN 1991 Dollars! If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Polaroid pics were all I had- retaken with a cell phone as proof of restoration. Currently:Fuel petcock bolt is leaking fuel at the moment. #1 carburetor is not getting fuel...probably due to sitting in storage for 7 yrs and carbs need a good cleaning. There is fuel leaking from petcock bolt. Runs on all 4 cylinders when #1 carb air filter is sprayed with carb cleaner. Needs new battery. Will need a rear tire soon.Being sold in AS IS condition. I am disabled and cannot work on the bike to make it roadworthy.
