Hybrid System Working Normally Ice Cold A/C Great Gas Mileage: 42mpg City / 41mpg HWY! Clear Title This car has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2003 Toyota Prius Hybrid. This car runs and drives wonderfully. Despite being small, it actually has a lot of room on the inside, and a very comfortable and stable ride quality. It is nice when shuffling around city and suburban streets, but still cruises comfortably (and feels safe) at 70mph on the highway. The gas mileage is amazing, it costs about $20 to fill the tank, and with the car getting 42 city / 41 hwy, that $20 goes a long way. The engine runs great, and the transmission and hybrid system work normally on this Prius. The brakes are strong and the suspension feels solid. There are no warning lights showing on the dash. The battery appears to be working just fine. There used to be a lot of fears about hybrids not lasting long, and batteries being expensive to replace, but those have all been debunked. These cars are going strong for more than 300k miles because the engine and electric motors share the work. There are aftermarket suppliers for replacement and remanufactured batteries. Also, there are now a number of mechanics that specialize in hybrids in the Baltimore-DC Metro area. The interior of this car is in average condition. The cloth seats are supportive and very comfortable, but do have a few little stains. The carpets are in OK shape – they are not ripped or excessively worn, but there is staining in the foot wells, and they could use a good shampooing to try and get that out. The dash and door panels are in good shape, with no cracks or broken pieces. The power windows, mirrors and door locks all work. The factory radio and dash diagnostic displays work. The heater works, and the A/C is so cold that it will freeze you out of the car! The wipers work as well. The headliner is a little bit dirty, but is not torn or sagging. There are driver and passenger airbags. The exterior of the car looks like a typical 11 year old car that has lived in a city. The paint looks OK, but up close you can see a lot of little dings and scratches here and there. It has alloy wheels. The tires are good, except the driver’s side front tire, which has some wear around the edge. There is some mild accident damage in the back from the car either taking a light hit, or possibly just being backed into something. The trunk lid and bumper are dented, and there is some minor denting of the right rear quarter panel (pictured). You could probably just replace the trunk lid and bumper with parts from the junkyard, and the car would look fine. There’s no indication that any serious damage was done to the car. I don’t see anything bent underneath, and the car drives beautifully. There are no vibrations when driving. This Toyota Prius would be perfect for someone looking for a small, reliable car that gets amazing gas mileage, but that doesn’t need to car to look perfect on the outside. It is in decent shape, and is mechanically sound, but as mentioned, there are lots of little dings and scratches all around the body, minor rear damage, and staining on the carpets. It did go through VA State Inspection on 8/6/14. It failed due to: foggy headlight lenses, tag light out, windshield wipers (?), the right front and right rear brakes (I'm guessing the pads are low on visual inspection because there is no squeaking and the brakes feel strong), and the worn front left tire. The owner must have been thinking about getting a new car at that point, because instead of making those minor fixes, they traded it in. Most of these things would be easy for someone with even minor mechanical skills to fix on their own. This is a very good car, with that legendary Toyota reliability. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it on a long trip. It runs well, so any bidder would be able to drive it any distance home. This car is not perfect, it is does have a few problems, and I have described those problems that I have found. Those do appear to be relatively minor, and a good mechanic or a competent DIY owner should be able to fix most of them. Please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this car, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule. I am selling this car on behalf of my father because he does not use the internet. This car is owned by his small, used car dealership.
