Vehicle Detail
1973 Volvo 142 E, Currently running and a reliable daily driver. Inspected, licensed and registered in Utah. This 40 year old classic is in amazing condition and ready to drive anywhere. Mileage UNKNOWN odometer isn’t working. I purchased this car last fall with the intentions of doing a high performance restoration. It was a great little daily driver up until the day when I got laid off this summer. I cannot afford to give this car the attention it needs before winter and can’t stand to leave it sitting out in the elements rotting away. As you can see from the photos, the body is in amazing condition with only the driver side door needing serious immediate attention. Sun roof seals tight and doesn’t leak a drop. The interior is in amazing original condition as well. There is only one small crack in the dash which is covered by the dash cover. AM FM Cassette player works too. The engine runs well too though the compression is low (90 pounds) on three of the four cylinders. Jetronic ignition runs great with four brand new Injectors as well as 4 almost new injectors as spares. Borg Warner T-35 three speed automatic shifts strong and reliably. Tires have plenty of traction and suspension is tight with no knocks or rattles. This car cruises along at 70 mph without a hitch and is really a treat to drive! If you’re looking for an excellent example of classic Volvo engineering, this is the one. Ready for a complete restoration, Racing, or just motoring to work and back. Here are the little issues I’m currently ignoring…Dash lights are intermittent, pot holes and railroad tracks might turn them off and on. (All headlights, brights, turn signals etc. are in legal working order) Heater blower motor isn’t working, though the temp controller is doing its job and there is plenty of heat to defrost without the blower (Rear defrost works great as well) New fuel filter, Distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires, Transmission filter and gasket, oil change, Fuel injectors and K&N air filter. Also included are various filters, belts and new water pump. I would confidently drive this car anywhere and it has been a real treat to own. Feel free to contact me with any additional question that you might have. garrylarson@juno.com While I have been as honest and accurate in my description as possible, this car is sold as is with no warranty.8/25 While cleaning and driving the car around on Sunday, I noticed that the Transmission fluid was low. (The car has sat most of the summer since losing my job) In the interest of full disclosure I took it to a local Transmission shop to have it checked out. The gasket for the Pump appears to be leaking though he said the overall condition of the transmission is very good once topped off with fluid. It is a fairly simple and inexpensive jog to replace the gaskets but the transmission would have to be removed to get access. It had always been my intention to replace the Transmission with the popular Ford T5 manual conversion, but now you know before you bid. Also, the Amp light was flickering on the dash so I replaced the alternator this after noon. Only $40.00 and twenty minutes of work...One of the beauties of these older cars!
