Vehicle Detail

1973 Honda CB500. VIN CB5002100599 Manufacture Date: 8/72 Title: CLEAR TITLE IN HAND. This is a true garage find. I purchased this bike from the second owner who purchased it in 1977. I have the actual 1977 title, as well as the new title in my name. I found the bike stored away in his garage. This bike was his daily rider. In 1979 he got married and his wife did not want to ride so he just parked the bike inside his garage and there it sat, covered up with a tarp. He went out to the bike occaisionally and would kick it over and pull in the clutch and roll it around. Then a few years ago, he said he did not kick it over and it "set up", meaning the motor would not kick over. The bike always ran perfect for him and he is the one who installed the aftermarket mufflers becasue the Honda Dealer told him they were the way to go. The bike is completely original from top to bottom and is just as it was sold in August 1072. Amazingly, the paint is perfect!!! Preserved for all these years, the bike is a virtual time capsule from 1972. I installed a new battery and turned the key on and everything lit up perfectly!! The lights, signals, even the horn worked. I have only washed the bike, and installed a new battery. The rest is up to you. The rear titre is not holdiing air right now and the front brake caliper is sticking. Rear brake works great. How cool is this? Look at the seat, preserved for 35 years like a new seat!!! I have sprayed Marvel Oil into the cylinders as a method to un-stick the pistons in the cylinders. There is no evidence of any oil leaks on the bike. Underneath the motor is dry and clean other than normal road film. Very clean frame too with little or nor rust anywhere. Amazing time capsule is all I can say. I would like to see someone who really cares about these old Honda's purchase the bike and get her running again but I know that the bike would also make a great Cafe Racer, so it is the buyer's choice what they do with the bike after they buy it. The bike still has fuel in it sloshing around, about 3/4 full, which I think helped preserve the tank. There is what appears to be a vintage transistor radio attached to the right rear of the bike with a wire running up under the seat. Anyone ever see one of these before?? Pretty cool looking. I appreciate your interest and the bike is located here at my home in Onsted, Michigan 49265, in the good ole' USA (well, used to be).
