Vehicle Detail
Let me start by stating that this car does not run. However, the engine is free and will turn over by hand. The carburetors need to be gone through and the throttle linkage is stuck, however, all parts are there and in good condition. GOOD POINTS There is little to no rust on the car, the pictures offered show surface rust only. No serious problems could be found as far as body. The paint is in 90% condition save for a few sun spots on the roof and deck lid.All chrome is in excellent condition, shines up by hand very very well. All glass is crack free,Interior is immaculate except for the saggy headliner.Dash is uncracked, wood trim is in good condition except for the varnish in the dash components needing to be redone.Brakes work and do not bind.Windows roll up and down when power is hooked up.Comes with All the factory tools in the trunk. STORY Of This JAG In 1971 this car was purchased in California, however I dont have much on the original owner. There is a short owner log that shows purchase in about 1978 by the second owner which according to the third owner worked for IBM. The car was used as a daily and racked with miles around this time. The third owner bought the car around 1986 (according to the California registrations I have). In the early 90s the third owner had the car fully restored, which would explain its immaculate condition with the amount of miles on the chassis. This is the part thats unclear to me. At some point it was stated that this car had an XKE engine fitted (evidence by the three carbs at first glance). in '97 the third owner moved from California to Tennessee, just over the hill from me, to start his own business. Daily life of a business owner led him to park this jewel in the barn on his land and he didnt touch it for 14 years. A neighbor and I found the car and while we fell in love with the story didnt have the time to put into it. So regrettably we offer it to the next loving owner. FINE PRINT Please feel free to ask any questions before buying. The car is listed locally and COULD sell before the auction is over. In the case the car is purchased here Id appreciate some contact with the future owner before the auction is through. 500$ deposit is expected upon the auction's end. As California didnt offer titles to older vehicles for the purposes of titling, I have the original registrations from the last owner as well as ALL the necessary paperwork to get a new title in ypur state. Thanks for looking! On Aug-14-14 at 04:44:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Update The only questions Ive had is about rust. I tried to upload the pictures from under the car but Im already overloaded on pictures. In the wheelwells and floor pans there is only surface rust, except for the engine bay this is the only "rust" Ive found. I say that in quotes as surface rust doesnt bother me. In the engine bay where the battery sat there is a slightly worse rusty spot but still not through, not even that pitted. A picture of that was provided in the original ad. If you have any concerns of rust un certain places message me and I can email you more specific pictures. Thanks! On Aug-15-14 at 13:36:15 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE number two. Did a little block research today and found casting number 8L34592-L on the rear bellhousing flange. Another bidder and I are speculating that the engine may have been a stock rebuild with a three carb manifold added. So, sadly I was told incorrectly by the last owner.
