Vehicle Detail

1968 Rally Sport Super Sport Camaro ONE OWNER factory Big Block Matching Numbers A/C car time capsule with documents to prove it! Highly optioned car with a Big Block 396, Turbo 400, 12 bolt rear, A/C, fold down rear seat, shoulder belts, tach gauge package, deluxe interior, front and rear bumper guards, power steering, power brakes, four piston disc brakes, vinyl top, and right hand mirror. Built in LA, sold at Lew Williams Chevrolet Center in Sacramento, CA, and has been in the Sacramento California area its entire life. Car was sold on 7/23/1968. Still has original black CA plates. This car has been sitting in a garage since 1983. The original owner parked the car and began disassembling it for restoration. He pulled out the original motor and tranny and the car sat until the owner died. Eventually, the son put back in the motor and tranny to make the car more complete and make room in the garage. I bought the car from the original owner’s son. The transmission in the car is a turbo 400. It is not the original trans but I have the matching numbers “born with” original case in great shape that came with the car! The numbers on it match both the vin and the original dealer paperwork. The original paperwork verifies both the numbers on the side as well as the original transmission tag! The rear end is the matching numbers “born with” 12 bolt that has the original numbers that also match up with the original dealer paperwork! It has all of the original wheels including the spare. Original dog dish hub caps in great shape! The motor was supposedly rebuilt but the son was unsure. It has been decked some time in the past but I was told it is the factory original motor. I would be surprised if it is not the original as I am told the block number and head numbers are correct for the year of the car and the original owner kept EVERYTHING for the car. I was going to pull the drivetrain out and rebuild the car from the frame up. The body is in amazing condition. There is NO RUST on the body. The fenders, doors, and quarter panels have zero rust or bubbling. The trunk has only light surface rust and is in all original condition. The original ash gold can be seen in the jams of the car. The car has had only one repaint ever! The car had a factory vinyl top and there is surface rust but none that is through or in need of major body work. Would be extremely easy to either put a top back on it or eliminate it and paint the car one color. There is no rust under the car in the floor pans or frame rails. The interior is 100% original. The door panels, dash, and front seats are still in very good survivor condition. The rear fold down rear seat has a rip along the one side in the back but still looks nice as well. Very nice headliner with rare shoulder belt option. Factory matching date code belts. Factory gauges with Tic Tock Tach in immaculate condition. I have the compressor, hoses, and brackets for the A/C. Also have the smog pump and many other original components that are not on the car. I have the original protect-o-plate and many other documents that prove it is a true RSSS big block car. The paperwork also gives the original engine pad number with an MY big block suffix code to prove it is a big block car. Tons of original documents from when it was purchased new as well as service receipts from Lew Williams Chevrolet Center throughout the years. I have every original document that I know of except for the window sticker and build sheet. Being the original interior has never been removed; a build sheet may be hidden inside. I have a bunch of documents from Lew Williams Chevrolet Center that verify the Vin, Axle code, Trans numbers, and Engine numbers and MY suffix. One is from when the car was purchased new and the others are from various service documents throughout the years. Very impressive paper trail. The original owner spatter painted the firewall, inner fenderwells, and underneath the trunk lid of the car. He also cut a hole in the passenger inner fender for easy access to the A/C unit. He did mask off the original trim tag so it is not spatter painted. This is the most honest and true 1968 RSSS Camaro garage find that you will come across. Needs restoration, but the original impossible to find parts are all here! Lots of original paperwork which proves exactly what the car is which is very rare to see. Clear CA title in my name. This rare Camaro is being sold with a very low reserve! Please only serious bidders. I would be happy to show the car. Please call Ron at (530) 401-4949 if you have any questions. Below is a link to my Photobucket page that contains a bunch more pictures of the car and paperwork. Thank you for looking. 1968 RSSS Camaro Pictures
