Vehicle Detail
Back in High School you said to yourself, "When I get older I am going to own one of those" Now is the time! The code 69 Silver Cortez paint is miles deep, and wears the traditional black racing stripes which made these cars famous. Bodywork is exacting, with even gaps and panels that have been reworked to a quality finish. All the Z/28 badges are there and the cowl-induction hood is functional, not an add-on aftermarket piece. The bumpers and gill inserts on the quarters are brilliantly chromed, while the grille is excellent. They simply don't get much nicer. Black buckets give the silver bodywork a hard edge that suits the Z/28 just fine. Beautifully restored to factory specs, the driver's compartment new components throughout, from the seat covers to the carpets to the door panels. A center console with auxiliary gauges is always a desirable option, and that chrome shifter lever controls the original Muncie 4-speed underneath. The woodgrained steering wheel matches the appliques on the dash and console better than most, while a correct AC speedometer and 6000-RPM tach remain front and center. In back the beautifully finished trunk has been equipped with a new mat, full-sized spare, and a correct jack assembly. The Z/28's calling card, of course, the specially-built 302 cubic inch small block which loves to rev, yet delivers plenty of low-end torque. One of Chevy's more potent machines, it was grossly underrated at 290 horsepower, which was apparently a number GM Marketers pulled out of thin air. Chevy Orange paint, correct finned valve cover, and the ram air induction system are all beautifully finished, and all the details are correct, check out the correct hoses and clamps and beautifully restored exhaust manifolds, not to mention the ultra-rare original Thermactor emissions control system. This date code correct DZ block wears a correct intake, 4-barrel carburetor, and distributor. It's backed by a Muncie 4-speed transmission. Out back , the heavy-duty 12 bolt is full of 3.73 gears on a limited-slip, so it hooks up fast and charges hard. Never needing a full restoration, the floors are rust-free and solid, much of the hardware is new, including the exhaust system. Four Rally wheels wear 215/65/15 BF Goodrich T/A radials which look right and ride better than the original bias-plys ever could. Alot of people ask about the numbers.
